Must have a hotdog at Coney Lafayette. We were careful around our hotel. There was good police presence. We were told as long as you are careful and not drunk out late you would be fine. My daughter, 20, at the time, commented she felt safer than in New York.

I live in the metro Detroit area and when colleagues fly here to visit clients, I try to take them around Detroit, especially downtown. The city has done a lot to rejuvenate the city and it shows. Clean new streets, improved retail (Nike, UA, Warby Parker, Drought Juice, etc.). The stadiums are new and nice too for sporting events and... More

Truly the comeback city for sure! Lots to do, clean and lots to eat! My whole family likes going downtown and it's a fun place with lots going these days! Truly back and the D is the place to be!

When I came here, I could see why they use the tagline "comeback city". Downtown Detroit is nothing like what you see depicted on the news. It's walkable, filled with a ton of beautiful architecture, and a vibe that makes it just a great place to wander around in. I never felt unsafe while walking around alone at night in... More

Downtown is definitely not a recommendable place for sightseeing. One can see empty buildings and rather scary corners. On the other side there is a lot of renovation work going on. Crossing fingers for Detroit in their efforts to change the "picture" of the heart of their city. The promenade along the river is definitely a refreshing an nice sight... More

My family and I were staying at the Marriott which is located in the heart of the Detroit riverfront. There are many great attractions from the casinos, to Greektown, to the restaurants from every corner of the world. We had a great time.

Four of us visited Detroit in preparation for the Lions/Packers game on New Years Day. We decided to celebrate New Years Eve downtown at the D Drop. Our hotel we stayed in was called the Viking, which I picked because you could walk from there. We did not walk, but others from our hotel did walk. According to them, it... More

Hubby and I and another couple stayed in downtown Detroit overnight as part of our attending the Lions-Packers game at Ford Field. There was little time for sightseeing this time round as we arrived mid afternoon on New Years Day and attended a Sunday evening game. We left the next morning after breakfast to take our friends to the airport.... More

Told by many to not visit, bypass , dangerous etc, etc. What a load of bunkum ! Saw the same homeless, distressed as in all major cities and as long as you are street smart it can be a great little town to view. Found the Elevated Line to be a fabulous and Cheap way to tour the City !!... More
