Downtown Detroit was a pleasant surprise. There were lots of people and they were really friendly. I enjoyed the scenery especially the big fist. I highly recommend people to visit for themselves.

I've walked around downtown twice so far this year and I loved both times! It was always fun and interesting! The first time, I parked near the Riverfront and walked along the riverfront, which was nice, went inside the GM building, went inside Guardian Building (didn't see much as it was closed) and Campus Martius! The second time, I parked... More

Stayed in Downtown Detroit over the weekend for a fencing championship at the Cobo Center. Like most Downtowns, Detroit Downtown is pretty dead during the weekend, with a lot of restaurants closed, especially those that cater to the working crowd during the week. This is not a particularly attractive downtown, architecturally that is. Safety in the evening is a concern.

I couldn't find much to do downtown the weekend I visited. Riding the People Mover gave me a view of the areas surrounding where I stayed, and I didn't really want to out and about looking at what I saw.

I'm sure things will be fantastic when it is all done. I grew up in Detroit in the 40s and 50s and it was a beautiful city. I know they are trying to bring the downtown and midtown back but right now it is nearly impossible to drive around - especially in the rain and dark.

This downtown city is big and empty, at the moment, that said everyone is super friendly, handing out advise and sending you in the right direction for your fun. Even the policemen were more friendly than the standard US cop. One even fist bumped me. I would recommend Detroit as an undiscovered gem, not for downtown but all of the... More

I felt very safe walking the downtown. Many stores and restaurants were open. People were very friendly and helpful.

We were happily surprised with the downtown area. It is really nice, some cool restaurants and breweries near/walking distance. The ball park. It felt safe and looked clean. It was also not too hard to drive around. We did not have any traffic problems. The hotels located downtown when we were there were mostly sold out and expensive. That was... More

You can see it, feel it, sense it. This is not the new Detroit it is a rebirth of the Glory of Detroit. So much renovating. The rebirth over the last 4 years is amazing. The people make the difference. This is the first time I can say Detroit is destination place to visit.

I love a great city to walk about in. It smacked of the back streets of Paris in Greektown and the streets of Prague near the parks off of Woodward. Close to Comerica Park for the baseball lovers and the old FOx Theater.
