I felt very safe walking the downtown. Many stores and restaurants were open. People were very friendly and helpful.

We were happily surprised with the downtown area. It is really nice, some cool restaurants and breweries near/walking distance. The ball park. It felt safe and looked clean. It was also not too hard to drive around. We did not have any traffic problems. The hotels located downtown when we were there were mostly sold out and expensive. That was... More

You can see it, feel it, sense it. This is not the new Detroit it is a rebirth of the Glory of Detroit. So much renovating. The rebirth over the last 4 years is amazing. The people make the difference. This is the first time I can say Detroit is destination place to visit.

I love a great city to walk about in. It smacked of the back streets of Paris in Greektown and the streets of Prague near the parks off of Woodward. Close to Comerica Park for the baseball lovers and the old FOx Theater.

I was going to The GM Center to look around a bit there cause I love the building so much when I decided to go instead to downtown Detroit. I thought I would be disappointed. Instead I got a whole new world of great things to do downtown. Like look at the Guardian building artwork, eat some hot dogs at... More

It you would like to see an overview of downtown Detroit, the People Mover is the way to go. For seventy-five cents, you can ride the People Mover as long as you would like. We rode it twice. I was able to take some neat pictures, but it was thru dirty windows.

Nice to walkaround and see buildings. Go to the edge and check out the river and People Mover. No great for children due to walking and only seeing buildings.

Not at all what I expected. Fantastic buildings to see and many undergoing restoration. Downtown is very much alive. Plenty of great places to eat. Buy lunch and sit in a park and enjoy some music when live music is presented. This city is coming back, big time. We will be back.

Downtown Detroit is a great place to explore with reminders of its greatness found in many of the fine old buildnigs still standing. The People Mover, a couple car train on elevated tracks, provides a great way to both see and get around.

Visited for sports event: the people are very friendly. We did not feel unsafe despite what news/media events report. The city is very nice in some areas, others not so much. Walked from campus Martius to Hart Plaza at dusk with no problems. There are some very beautiful buildings amazing architecture and some very outstanding Detroiters.
