The ice skating rink is a lot of fun, when its time to warm up head across the street to Cadillac park tent to play games and get a warm or cold beverage.

The atmosphere is fun no matter when you attend. Lots to do with families both summer and winter. Love heading down and just hanging out with the kids.

We love ice skating here, and have got frequently the last few years. However, this season the rates have raised significantly! Almost double! In the past, if you brought your own skates there was a separate line and a discount. Now it is very expensive...More

It has been about 10 years since I have spent any time in downtown Detroit. Wow! What a turn around. The whole area is revitalized and safe. The Campus Martius Park was excellent. The outdoor skating rink, indoor roller rink, local vendor market and restaurants...More

We were there for Christmas Eve and saw wonderful displays of Christmas Trees strung with Fairy Lights. Public ice-skating was wonderful and the spirit of friendliness all around provied a perfect night before Christmas.

TR: Fabulous 4 days in Detroit for the Detroit Jazz Festival (11 Replies)
My 15yo son and I (mom) recently spent 4 days/3 nights in Detroit for the Detroit Jazz Festival and I thought I'd write a short TR since we had such an amazing time. Besides, I rarely read reports for leisure stays (i.e. non-business) in Detroit that's more than an overnight. We live in Ann Arbor, which is less than an hour away from Detroit. We do go into Detroit often but it's always for a specific purpose or event, like a Tiger's game or Eastern Market or going out to dinner. I don't...More

HOTEL We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on W. Jefferson for the 3 nights. Arrived Friday around 5:00pm, valet parked (yes, a whopping $23 a day) and checked in. Standard 2-queen room but with a great view of the river and Hart Plaza. I hadn't really cared about the view BUT it turned out to be a huge bonus on Saturday, to watch the fireworks that we hadn't known about. Hotel was fine, though a little tired. Many of the Courtyards have been upgraded recently but this one obviously hasn't...More

Fun dinner spot between Campus Martius & Marriott Courtyard? (5 Replies)
I'm looking for a nice but fun restaurant for dinner for me and my son (16yo). We'll be staying at Marriott Courtyard and prefer to walk, if possible. TIA!
