Interseting history.

Seeing the design and the planning and construction for a fortification which was never used was very interesting.

Needs a ton of work, BUT, soooo much history and so much to see. Good place to volunteer, the staff is incredible and very knowledgable. Wish more people would visit and help here.

The initial presentation that explained the history of the Fort was interesting, made me eagerly anticipate the tour. The buildings are amazing, the opportunity to get up close to history is a wonderful idea-HOWEVER our tour guide left a lot to be desired. All participants are of course looking for that one ghostly adventure but the incessant rambling of the... More

Unique experience and well organized. Request Dave to join your tour if possible. His knowledge of the fort and local history is impressive and he is a natural storyteller.

This has potential to be a really cool historical site, but it's largely overgrown with weeds and other plants, is crumbling, and much of the site is not open. It's worth a visit, but you'll only stay for longer than an hour if you really like hiking in the weeds.

Thank you for your comments on your visit to Detroit's Historic Fort Wayne, a US National Register site. We hope your guided tour included the 1851 barracks with its restored Civil War rooms, the fortification tunnel and attached cannon casemate, the Spaniish American War restored guardhouse and the National Museum of the Tuskegee Airmen. All those are accessed by paved... More

Saturday afternoon visit to Historic Fort Wayne with our family (4 daughters 20+y.o.) turned into a magical experience for everyone. Granted we were nearly the only visitors there, but that is my family's definition of perfect ! We started out following the path on our own, then picked up Jim, the best tour guide on the planet ! He shared... More

The fee for this event is $25 per person. Could not believe how terrible the narration was (especially by Chris), what was said and how hard it is to hear what they are saying. Very little historic information was offered, there are few plaques and no written literature so you can obtain the information. This tour is basically walking through... More

Civil War era facility on the river. The buildings are slowly falling apart. It is a real shame because it is a great place for the family to visit. The earthen fort portion is in great shape. I wish I had known it was here a long time ago. I was there during a civil war enactment and 1870's baseball... More
