A very informative tour, it helped us see and understand the ongoing rebirth of downtown Detroit. The walk lasted just over 2 hours, cost 15$ per person via a website reservation. Worthwhile!

Preservation Detroit has put together a wonderful downtown walking tour. Our guides, Ken and Scott, filled the 3 hours with great details and information. I would wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a bottle of water. I am eager to try another Preservation Detroit tour. Thank you!

I found this tour to be a great introduction to the varied architecture and history of downtown Detroit. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer all questions. There are some great stops along the way including grand interiors, adaptive uses of urban spaces, and explanations of city landmarks. In addition, this tour is led by volunteers that support the preservation... Preservation Detroit seeks to preserve the architecture and heritage of the city and the tours shows that off. We did the downtown tour but others are available (Midtown, Eastern Market and others). The tour was a great way to see the city. Tour guides were knowledgeable about city history and architecture. Plan to cover a good amount of area, from... More

A very nice walking tour. We loved the buildings we saw. It was very informative. It was very nice to have several staff members on our tour. They each added a lot of information throughout the tour. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

What a fantastic tour of our great city of Detroit for fellow Cooley classmates that came into town for their high school 50th reunion. Many classmates have not been back to where they were born and raised in many, many years and live out of state. One classmate who took the tour lives in Amnan, Jordan and loved visiting Detroit.... The skyscraper tour was tremendous, from its start in the Pontchartrain Hotel all the wat through theGORGEOUS lobbys of the Guardian and Dime Buildings,to the awe-spiring CLIMAX 565 feet above Detroit on the ROOF of the Penobscot Building!!! There is a taller vantage point in the nearby Marriot Hotel, but there is NOTHING that quite beats being nearly SIX-HUNDRED feet from the... More

I went on a walking tour of downtown with Preservation Detroit, as well as a different neighborhood tour of the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood that they and various state and community organizations organized. Both tours were wonderful and so informative! Our tour guides for the downtown tour (who volunteer their time and effort to give these tours) were phenomenal...they were friendly, very... More

First off, it is helpful to remember the Eastern Market Tour, like all of the Preservation Detroit tours, is run by volunteers. My husband and I had attended two other tours before doing the E. M. tour today. The first one of Downtown we really enjoyed. The second one, of Midtown, was not so good. And today's tour falls in... More
