Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit has some well-known folks lying around in the ground, or on top of it. Being so close to Motor City, it's no wonder to see the burial places of the Fords and Chryslers. You'd expect their graves to be opulent, but they're surprisingly subdued. The same can't be said for the Dodge clan, with their giant... More

It's a cemetery, it's peaceful, there are cool headstones and mausoleums and it's huge. But it's not Arlington or anything, this isn't a "tourist stop". If you're into cemeteries and you're in the area, it's certainly worth a few minutes of your time to drive through.

I wanted to pay my respects and visit Rosa Parks' grave when in Detroit. NO WHERE on their website does Woodlawn indicate where she is buried except to say she is in a mausoleum. There's also no sign or marker telling you a thing when you enter the gates. After checking other websites, I go to the main mausoleum which... More

My grandmother is laid to rest in this cemetery. The gravestones reflect a lot of history. It is truly a tribute to those who have passed away so many years old.

This cemetery is beautiful, especially when trees are flowering in the spring, or leaves are in color in the fall. The older sections have beautiful monuments. Ask for a map at the office, as you enter, especially if you are interested in some of the historically important people buried there.

This is the resting place of hundreds of Detroit notables. Political and artistic personages of the past. The Dodge Brother Mausoleum is amazing.
