What wonderful place to spend the afternoon. The staff that works there are always so nice especially this wonderful silver haired beautiful lady when you come in at the desk. She was more than helpful and so fun and welcoming . She paid attention to everyone and gave such care . I wish I checked her name but she was so wonderful. The exhibits are just so interesting and they have stuff for everyone of all ages to enjoy.

I have attended many of this museum's functions. Wonderful experience. I recommend it for families. Great location on Michigan Avenue on the west side of Dearborn.

The Museum is only open a few hours a day, a couple days of the week. I checked the website to verify operating times several times.

I was finally able to get a vacation day on one of the days they operate. We arrive in the 2-6 window and the bldg is all locked up. No sign on door, nothing referenced on website. Turns out they have a sale at a different site and closed the museum.

I wanted to share a good childhood memory with my daughter here. With the shortened hours of operation and this disappointment, we will not return. It took too much planning. They need to keep this information front and center for visitors to know.

Going to The Henry Ford Museum for us.

The Dearborn Museum is located in downtown Dearborn in what was once part of Fort Dearborn, an armory and military depot from the late 1700s to about 1870. It has several period displays and quite a bit of local Civil War unit history and arms. It is free and staffed by volunteers who are friendly, easy to talk to, and full of interesting local and historical information. It's worth an hour or so to visit.

We toured this museum after attending the Teddy Bear Picnic which was held on its grounds. Small adorable very historical 3-story building (including basement or lower level)..first a fort, then as a house, now a museum. Only stairs to get between the floors, so the disabled please be advised. They have a gift shop with very reasonable prices (most are a few dollars or less). They also have china for sale at higher prices. Not a whole lot of parking in the lot nearby though which is the only downside.

This is a must-visit for anyone interested in local history. It gives a perspective of what the 1800's were like in Dearborn and in SE Michigan!

I have been going to their evening programs. They bring in some interesting speakers on a variety of topics. They are about an hour long. Donation based. The building itself is an older home. It seems a bit sparse, but maybe that is because they clear out the rooms for these events. People that work there are very sweet.

We enjoyed our visit to both the Nowlin house and the Commandant's Quarters. The docent at the Commandant's Quarters was particularly knowledgeable and gracious. He spent quite a bit of time with us.

Since we live in Dearborn we had not visited here in 20 years! Had a great time and liked what we saw. Gave us a deeper understanding of how our hometown came to be. Definitely worthwhile!
