    Fun experience for all abilities
I booked a one hour hack as a birthday present for my 8 year old son, who has little riding experience and my 10 year old son who is a little nervous. Cheryl asked before hand about our experience and matched the horses accordingly. The horses are fit and well cared for, extremely responsive and well behaved. By the end of the ride Cheryl had taught my son the rising trot which made him so happy. Friendly family run business. Will definitely be returning!

    Excellent
Highly recommended. My 11-year old daughter and her friends took a 2-hour trek with Cheryl, and the whole experience was excellent. The ride was safe, but exciting for the girls, with the horses taken first to a small river and then out for the main trek. From start to finish the afternoon was very friendly and professionally run. One measure of this was that when the girls might have been back 10 minutes early, Cheryl took them past the stables to ensure that the full 120 minutes was used. We’ll definitely go back.

    Amazing
Myself and my daughter went for a 1 hour hack and had the best time. I havnt ridden in 20 years and was well looked after, and my daughter who has been riding for 2 years went off and had a lovely canter. Beautiful location, lovely staff would recommend to anyone.

Had a great trip with work. All complete beginners. Made to feel very welcome and relaxed. A great couple of hours!
Best beginners trek, I would definitely return with the family for a future experience. Warm, welcoming and extremely attentive, this family run business really looked after us and gave us a great first experience on horseback. I would definitely recommend and come again with the family.

We've been riding with Cheryl and the South Downs Trekking team since 2018 and absolutely love our rides. The ponies are gorgeous and really well looked after. Cheryl is friendly and professional. Her instructed hacks are brilliant - I have learnt so much and am a much better and more confident rider than ever before. The bridleway is the Meon Valley Trail and accessible in all weathers. It's pretty, there's lots to see and you can canter, if that's what you want to do.

We ride here regularly on our own, as a couple, with friends and people we meet through SDT. Very highly recommended!

Fabulous ride this morning, Cheryl and Matt run an excellent setup and really cater for differing abilities. My complete beginner son was very nervous and Cheryl managed to get him completely at ease, doing rising trot and even off the lead rein at the end. My more confident daughter had her first hacking canter experience and says it was the best experience ever. My daughter and I will definitely be back! Thank you x

We went trekking and had lots of fun in the river, I enjoyed trotting ahead, comfortable that my children were safe with Cheryl and her team. The horses were beautiful and well looked after and I had no doubt that they were very happy. Overall a wonderful riding experience that I would highly recommend for family’s with young children.

Really enjoyed a private hack with Cheryl and my 12 year old daughter. No roads, just bridle path and loads & loads of fast canter. We then took the horses for a walk IN the local river! Thanks for a really splendid ride today 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Cheryl and the team at South Downs Trekking gave our kids a really fun and informative hour trekking experience over the Oct half term 2022.
One of the kids was pretty nervous and was made to feel comfortable very quickly. We had a hack along the pathway and the kids got to a rising trot. Not bad for four children who have never ridden before.

I was really impressed at how the team worked with the kids, teaching them the riding basics.

A delightful family business offering safe, informative and expert trekking services.

Went for a ride today with Cheryl and her team at South Downs trekking. I have not ridden for many years and my son is a total beginner. We went for a hack through some beautiful countryside on some lovely horses and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Cheryl and her team made us feel very welcome and were so kind and helpful. Will definitely return. Thank you!

My daughter and I went on an hours hack with Cheryl and Grace this morning, we had a great time, unfortunately due to my lack of experience and nerve we were only able to walk with a few trots, my daughter who has much more experience was held back by me!
Cheryl was so friendly and accommodating and has suggested my daughter go back by herself to enjoy it properly next time.
I will definitely book again, they were wonderful company and the scenery was beautiful.

We enjoyed a safe guided hack out down a beautiful bridle path. The horses were well behaved in great condition. Cheryl was a lovely and knowledgeable escort. The most beautiful countryside. Highly recommended.
