The stone is great we visited in March very few people about so we could climb the wooden steps to the top and take our photos. Although a bit slippery at the top if you had youngsters. It was only a 10-15 minute easy walk...More

We decided to visit here as it wasn't far to walk from the car park to the stone and with me suffering mobility issues, that was ideal. The stone itself is very impressive to look at, though I wasn't able to climb the steps to...More

A National Trust site and as an NT member, car parking is free, however after numerous attempts we could not get the machine to acknowledge our membership card so left it on the dashboard. I failed to notice what the actual parking charge would have...More

Whenever we are near Grange we have a look at the Bowder stone .Its sheer size is impressive and you can actually climb it fairly safely so even more fun . Wonder what it weighs ?

A nice big stone, good fun for all the family to explore and take some photographs. Well worth stopping off for a few minutes

The Bowder Stone is an interesting experience and provides an opportunity to climb by ladder to the top. Care is needed though as the space at the top is limited unless you climb onto the Bowder Stone which can be very slippy

This is a national trust property so access to the carpark is free to NT members. The stone is only a short walk away from the carpark and the path is wide and is wheelchair friendly. Access to the top of the stone is via...More

Another mystical lake district feature! A nice steady walk up from the car park leads you to a big lump of rock which seems to be precariously balanced! The view from the top of the stone is lovely. There were a couple of National Trust...More

Parked in the National Trust car park and walked to 600 meters to the stone. Bit of rain but the path is gravelled so not too muddy. Plenty of walks in this location and the stone ok if stones float your boat. Worth a visit...More
