The Mann House is a Michigan State Historic Site. The late Victorian style frame home was built between 1883-1884 by Daniel Mann and his wife, Ellen, so their daughters could attend school in Concord. In her will, the daughter, Jessie, bequeathed the family home to the state of Michigan, following her death in 1969.

The home, which houses most of the original furnishings, is located 12 miles west of Jackson, via M-60. Admission is free. The home is opened Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

The hour long tour is given by extremely knowledgeable Eastern Michigan graduate students from the Historic Preservation Program. Not only is the Mann family interesting, but the fact that education was held in such high regard by Daniel and Ellen Mann and their daughters. Ellen Mann and her two daughters graduated from college, which was very unusual for that time period.

A great example of early 20th Century Michigan life can be found in the small town of Concord.

My late father, James G. "Doc" Patterson helped set up the home years ago. I know they spent a lot of time getting things from the era in there to be very realistic.

The Mann house was very cool to visit. The house is preserved just the way it was years ago. If you like history, this stop is for you!

We participated in a tour of the Mann House with a group of friends and found it to be very interesting for a variety of ages. Our group of 16 included ages 5-60. Our tour guide, AJ, was very knowledgeable about the house and all of its contents. The kids (and adults) enjoyed rolling hoops and playing croquet. This hidden gem is a must see in Concord for anyone in the area or willing to make a pleasant drive to experience Victorian era history in Michigan.

We very much enjoyed our tour through the Mann House Museum. The guides were extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the history of the house and its occupants. We were guided at our own pace and the guides were ready with information about even the smallest details to our questions. This is a piece of Michigan history that should not be missed ! Thanks for the effort in keeping our Michigan history alive for all to enjoy
