We have camped here twice and enjoyed both experiences. The roadway leading into the campground is the biggest bummer with the washboard-type dirt road but the park is beautiful for walking and the staff friendly. We enjoy biking and there was plenty to keep us...More

Camping at portage lake is great here. Good clean campground with plenty to do for kids. The lake is a short walk away and good hiking trails all through out.

We visited the park for a day of hiking. We did the trails around the discovery center. The paths are great, easy to follow and well maintained. We also visited the discovery center. Didn’t see much wildlife, but enjoyed the wooded areas.

The campgrounds at Portage Lake were quite nice. Very wooded and fairly spacious sites. The beach was nice but very crowded. There were lots of boats on the small lake too.

Which campground? You don't say what features you want/don't want. Both Waterloo and Pinckney State Recreation Areas have several campgrounds. Search the information on their web sites. October is beautiful herel
