My wife & I saw a coupon offer on Up North Live for Nautical North Family Adventures and decided to take our 2 grandsons (10 & 8) on the sunset cruise. Cheboygan is about a 2 1/2 hour drive each way from our home. The marina was very easy to locate. Captain Jen was awesome, especially with the boys, knowledgeable, and more than competent; as was Rob, a local historian who came along and provided a lot of information.
The weather was great, although an earlier storm stirred up the lake, clouding the view of the shipwrecks somewhat - but no one can control that. Sunset was magnificent.
Earlier that day, we spent time in Mackinaw City & even rode across the "Big Mac". But when asked their favorite part of the day, both boys enthusiastically said, "The glass bottom boat!" and "Captain Jen".

Super fun, highly personal, accessible to all and truly unique. The combination of Captain Jen's easygoing, but capable boat handling and Rob the guide's immense knowledge of the area make for a dynamite combination.

The chance to snorkel the wrecks was a huge bonus and had my kids (13 and 10) marking this as one of their favorite up north adventures of all time. Highly recommend this tour for anyone, but especially for teen and tween families looking for something the whole family can enjoy and do together. You can tell Jen has older kids, as she also invited my 13-year-old to drive the boat.... so often when we travel, the "little ones" get invited to do special things and it touched my heart that she thought of him, too.

It's also very reasonably priced for the experience and bringing our own food/drinks made it even more affordable.

I also loved hearing about how Captain Jen started her business, and it made me happy to spend my money with a small, female-owned and run business that is providing such an exceptional service and experience to the area.

Kudos, Jen and team!

Our unofficial group leader booked this and we took a dim view of going out into Lake Huron in May at sunset. Turned out he scored a great experience for us! Captain Jen decided to chuck school teaching and promote Cheboygan tourism by creating this boating experience. Her partner Bob was very informative, as we motored down the Cheboygan River. I'll never look at a barge again the same way. The water was smooth, the visibility very good, sunset spectacular and the history -- which we forget what a role Michigan played a century ago. This tour is for all ages.

We had such a fun time doing the shipwreck tour! The Captain and the historical master Rob were soo great! Lots of fun info, great lake views of the most beautiful sunset and even a impromptu "Titanic" singalong! What a fun ride!!! Totally worth the money and we WILL be back to do it again! They answered ?all of our questions, on the shipwrecks and the local area as well as Capt. Jen was soo friendly and fun! We travel often and do alcot of tours (we are mid 30s) and this was a top 5 in the country, we have seen. Trust me, when I say this tour is a "Must see" the tour lasts about an hour and half or a bit longer. Bring bug spray if u do the evening one.

First of all the captain is fun and friendly, she takes you down the river and has lots of fun facts and a fun I Spy for the kids. After the river you get really close to 2 lighthouses and then you get to see the shipwrecks! The glass bottom boat is amazing because the water is crystal clear and you can see to the bottom. We got to jump off the boat and snorkel out to the shipwrecks until we couldnt swim anymore! Best trip ever, it was fun for the kids on the boat with the glass bottom and was fun for 5he adults because we get to swim out and see the shipwrecks. Amazing amazing experience!

We went very early in the season (May 4), so it was a bit chilly and we weren't able to do the snorkeling, but we are definitely going back once it warms up. Aside from the temperature, we had perfect weather and we could see the bottom as soon as we left the mouth of the river.
The first mate, Rob, works at the museum in town and knows all of the local history. He gave a running commentary about everything we passed along the river, the lighthouses in the bay, and the three shipwrecks that we visited. Captain Jen put us right over the wrecks, and had some fun stories to tell about past visits.
All in all, it was a great time and I'd recommend to anyone staying nearby or passing though.

We had a ten o’clock reservation but Jen canceled because we were the only group, but ended up being crammed onto the next excursion, not happy about that. It was an ok hour of boating.
Hard to see underwater due to reflections of steel bars above and around sides. Perhaps draping black cloth under roof support and along railing making it moveable for children and no need for repetitive painting.
The ride and views were enjoyable. The speaker was very informative and enjoyable.

My mom and I are both born and raised in Cheboygan. Even though we know a lot of the history in town, Maria did a wonderful job of telling many amazing details of the history of Cheboygan, about the different boats, tugs, and ships that are moored in the river, and about the shipwrecks and lighthouses in the area. The boat is very clean and safe, and Captain John made everyone feel welcome and safe. We had a picture perfect day to go out on our excursion. We brought light coats, but never needed them. The only thing that I wished that I had done, was to take one Dramamine before I left. I only had a little problem when we were out looking down at the shipwrecks, while the boat was rocking a little. My mom did not have a problem at all. There were 3 kids and their mom that got off and snorkeled. They had fun, and we had fun watching them. They were offered towels and blankets by the crew, but did not need them. It was a very fun cruise that lasted about 2 hours. I would definitely go again. Thank you to Jen, for bringing this wonderful glass bottom boat tour to Cheboygan. It is such an asset to the town!!

We were looking for an activity for one day in our Cheboygan stay and stumbled upon this excursion. We had hopes that it might be interesting. WELL… it was fantastic! The guide never stopped the informative narration the entire time of the cruise. We learned so much! Not only did he narrate and inform… he listened as well, and happily and knowledgeably answered passengers’ questions. The views of the sunken ships through the glass bottom were superb. We even jotted down the names of the sunken ships so we could research more about them later. And the biggest surprise?? The pilot of the boat actually let several passengers pilot the boat themselves under his guidance. What a treat and what a story to tell friends and family. Highly recommended!!

We had a great time. The guide gave just the exact right amount of information to be interesting without information overload. A hidden gem in that area! Note to families...Not sure it would have kept the attention of younger children.
