This is a great use for an old church. The space has been converted into a community event center as well a a place to learn about local heritage. We also got to hear a very nice organ recital on the fully restored pipe organ.

This church, formerly St. Anne's, is beautifully restored. It was is very bad condition after being used as a junk dealer shop and needed many repairs. A lot of the original fixtures were gone, but there are still some remaining - the pulpit, some of the items on the walls and all the stained glass windows, which had to be releaded. There are some exhibits and a beautiful pipe organ to be seen. It is a beautiful sandstone church - there is an exhibit about the sandstone quarry. If you are interested in the original Calumet buildings, this is a must see.

The architecture is an epic example of the Copper Country at its peak, and the kids enjoyed a chance to ring the bell. Staffed by community volunteers, the Heritage Center has four separate but complimentary exhibits focusing on history and historic restoration. The building is handicapped accessible and has a beautiful basement hall with a kitchen that can be rented for weddings and other events.
Worth the price.

Four exhibits make the $3 entrance fee well worth it. Interesting information about the history of this one-time church and the rescue of the building after it was no longer a church. Another exhibit focuses on the stained glass in the windows. A third examines the role of women in a mining community and the fourth, a video produced by three high school students, shows what the main street was like in 1910.
