My husband, 12 year old and 9 year old twins and I were driving to Minnesota and stopped for two nights in New Buffalo, Michigan. We stayed at the Marina Grand Resort which was a lovely hotel with suites and only 15 minutes from Warren Dunes. We took about 4 hours total to climb various dunes and then swim in... More

Wonderful location beach was awesome...great time with grandkids 6.7+14. Big treed lots most with one wall of trees. The camp store offered so many things...wish there was a lean on healthy and local. It would be Great to see Michigan products and fresh local offerings. The beach is beautiful, the park is amazing, with the lake, and the dunes and walking trails. There is stones by the water so wear shoes, some fossils to be found. But, my sadness was that the clientele didn't seem to care . There were pieces of garbage everywhere, the picnic are by the bath house was a pigsty, the... More

When I think of sand dunes, I think of the small dunes you see on east coast beaches. Here, the state park is on Lake Michigan and the dunes are as high as mountains. Pictures can not show the true view. People were running up to the tops of the dunes and playing, but in addition there is a beach... More

The State of Michigan has been downright brutal to its once-mighty State Park system, forcing them to survive on fees alone with no state subsidy. It shows at Warren Dunes. Two once- fine beach houses are unkept shells. Rooms closed off, bathrooms in OK (but not great) shape, picnic tables getting visited too many times by birds. Two smaller (concessionaire?)... More

Our family enjoys this beach. Recommend you wear water shoes. Be sure to watch the rip tide report or pay attention to the flags on the beach (red, yellow, green) advising swim conditions.

We went to the dog beach with our dog. It was clean and a beautiful day. On the main beach they are in the process of putting up a new building. Very happy with our trip.

Visited July 5 for the first time in three years. OMG what a near-sighted state legislature can wreak in just a couple of years. Warren Dunes for decades was tied for first or second most-visited state park in Michigan -- the placement depended on the weather as it has an enormous, sugar-sand beach and several dunes for climbing. If it's... More

The Dunes are a fantastic site for all to see. The endless hours of fun and joy through playing on the dunes and then cooling off in the lake is great for all ages. The bathroom facilities are a problem. They are extremely dirty, unless you are in an emergency, you will want to find another location.

We stopped here and the way back to Kentucky! We enjoyed climbing the dunes, looks easy but are very challenging! Great views of the lake, lots of parking. The changing rooms and bathrooms serve the purpose. No frills. I will definitely come back to do some more hiking!
