Nothing on the website to indicate that this is unfortunately closed to the public. Too bad as we went, couldn’t roust anyone despite a few cars in the parking lot, called and got a recorded message. Too bad, looked interesting from what I could see peeking in from a few windows.

Great choice for adults to find out history of Cape Cod and Edward Gorey. It is a fun place to visit and leaves a memory of eccentric people.

I never knew about Edward Gorey before going to the house, but went along with my family who knew him. They loved the house. It was tough for me to get a great sense of everything as my 4 year old was constantly moving and not able to sit still. It was very interesting learning who he was and seeing his illustrations. Would recommend, but would keep the toddlers home so you can enjoy!

Even if you are not a fan of Edward Gorey, you will learn a lot about this creative man. He was a bit eccentric, which makes touring the house all that much more interesting. The docents have lots of information to share, and were very welcoming. Cute little gift shop with a good selection of books, T-shirts and other Gorey paraphernalia.

I was doing something else close to the cape today and decided to drive the 30 minutes over to the museum. What a delight! I wish I'd gone sooner. Maryanne was our guide and she is marvelous. The home is pure New England and located on a small square with other gorgeous homes. The exhibits are a phenom of his every day life and his amazing persona. You need to go. I would also recommend Not Your Average Antiques on your way so you can collect the way Gorey did. I'll leave how he collects to your docent to explain!
