We made a quick stop here because I love lighthouses. It was unfortunately a very rainy, cloudy sort of day, but it was still a beautiful lighthouse with incredible views. There are only a few parking spots, but since the lighthouse is literally right there and you couldn't really go up there, it is only going to be a quick stop so people kept coming and going.

The site is currently undergoing renovations, but the light and the house are fully visible, not covered or swathed in construction materials - so we recommend you definitely still go to see the site. No tours, obviously, are currently being conducted. But it's a beautiful location, a gorgeous light and house, and it was very easy to park.

Take the route along the shore that goes past the lighthouse and eventually leads to Woods Hole. Twisty road with gorgeous views of the water, marshes, and mysterious woods. Apparently the lighthouse is private and you can't visit.

Located in Falmouth, MA this light house is usually open to the public and does tours, there are no current tours (COVID-19). There were a few places to park directly in front of the lighthouse but I can imagine during the summer you can’t even get close! Directly across from the lighthouse are trails leading down to the shoreline. They are steep, so wear sneakers and be careful! If you look out at sea you will see Martha’s Vineyard! Highly recommended a fairy ride out to the island! There is also a small beach on this same road and the Falmouth road race runs by this lighthouse as well!

My wife is crazy about lighthouses so I put together a Massachusetts-Maine lighthouse road trip for her. Nobska was one of our favorites. The lighthouse itself is very picturesque, and immediately behind it you get beautiful views of the bay and of Martha's Vineyard. If you're into lighthouses, Nobska is definitely worth the stop.

Light house is closed an very much still in "covid mode". Parking is terrible and there is no real signage to self-direct you. If it wasn't for the video I watched I wouldn't have known about the path/lookout across the street. I may return in a few years to see if the lighthouse has reopened to the public. Right now I'm a little underwhelmed.

The spot is high on a bluff with 300 degree panamera of Vineyard Sound. There are two perspective at this spot. Look inward to the historic lighthouse. Walk around the iconic sparkling white tower and then turn outward to face the ocean below. Scan Wood Holes, Elizabethan Islands, and Falmouth.
Walk across the street for a better vision of the rock cliffs. Also a remembrance stone of the a remembrance on a victim of 9/11.

I came down to The Cape on my own for the weekend and decided to spend the day in Woods Hole. One of the reasons for my choice was finding out they had a lighthouse I could visit. I decided to hit the lighthouse on my way back to the hotel and was very disappointed to find there was nowhere for me to park. There was a small lot that was already full of cars and bikes and the rest of the road appeared to be private and permit parking only.
The road was very pretty and the water was gorgeous, but it was very hard to really appreciate the lighthouse without being able to get out and really see it. I supposes one could risk parking along the beach without a permit but even then the walk up doesn't seem very pedestrian friendly with the windy road and lack of sidewalk. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the great parking at Nubble Light in Maine which is my typical go to lighthouse in the summers. I don't even know if it was open as I never even got out of my car.

If you are looking for that perfect Cape Cod lighthouse photo, this is it. The Nobska Light is beautiful and so is the view over the ocean from it. Easy walk from Nobska Beach. Worth checking out!

Amazing views and a tranquil place to watch the sunset! The lighthouse is a working model-so cool seeing the light blink at dusk!

Do you need a car if spending day at Martha’s Vineyard ?

if you are going into Oak Bluffs it is totally walkable. you can catch a sightseeing bus (school bus) to tour the island. you can rent bikes and scooters, too. Nice town, gingerbread houses, homemade fudge, chowder, antique merry-go-round, shops, and beach, too. Good first visit idea is to take the Island Queen out of Falmouth for the day.

Where is Nobska Lighthouse Beach?

From Falmouth, Ma, drive towards Woods Hole on Woods Hole Road. (It is a very short drive.) Just as you approach the village of Woods Hole, turn left onto Church St. Cross a wooden bridge and admire the magnificent homes along the road. Within a half mile Nobska Beach will appear on your right just as you approach the water. Nobska Light will be visible ahead. The island of Martha's Vineyard can also be seen across Vineyard Sound. After, or before, your visit to Nobska, stop in Woods Hole for lunch or dinner, visit the aquarium and stroll through the village.

If we leave our car in Falmouth as is suggested and take the WHOOSH trolley to WHOI, how do we get to Nobska Lighthouse? Can we walk? Is there a loop bus?

I didn't notice the trolley. Most people ride their bikes up there. My husband and I walked there and back from the Woods Hole Inn. The weather was nice, so we made the most of it. You can drive to the lighthouse, but there are only about 3 parking spaces.
