Perfect walk with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and Boston. The trails were easy to walk, and it was just a nice place to unwind. I appreciated the signage. It was difficult to find a parking space, so I'd suggest avoiding the week-end.

The Deer Island Reservation is a great place to walk by the ocean in Boston Harbor, with good trails and nice views of the city. They also have good informational signs on how the Deer Island waste treatment plant works. Nicely run and clean facility surrounded by a small park and plantings. There is a good amount of free parking and a great place to see the sunset.

Foggy day yesterday, you couldn't see the tops of the Digesters or Boston or the airport. Every now and then you'd hear a plane. We were especially looking for the new Irish Memorial at Deer Island, and only found it due to the fortuitous timing of a shoe needing retying. This memorial is on the "upper level" as it was, sort of facing Logan airport, close-ish to where Bella is remembered and above the panel remembering the Native Americans who perished on the site. You do have to climb about 40 feet of path to get to the memorial, I've attached a picture

Was traveling around Boston and found I had an hour to kill, so I took a detour over to Deer Island since it popped up when I was browsing TripAdvisor. Nice little place with some some paved paths and little hills to climb up for some awesome views. Dunno how busy it gets in the summer time, but I visited in late April and it had the place to myself. Go on a sunny day or during sunset for some awesome views

Climbing the hill gives lovely 360 views. Fascinating history to the area, having hosted everything from a prison to an orphanage, and now a treatment plant for cleaning up the waters of the bay. Easy to get here on the bus.
