Snow conditions here are good even when you may not have any snow out your window! which is the case this year (2020), grass at my house but 15" of snow here. Trails for all abilities and the grooming is top notch. They hold many high school races here.

We are so lucky to have this place.

Best conditions are when trails have been tracked. Then, it's the best skiing around. Even when there's no snow in the Pioneer Valley, there'll be great skiing here.

Great spot, very sub par grooming
Dec 2019
I have gone to Notchview for the last 15 years. In the beginning, they allowed senior members to ski free on the weekdays and gave a discount to senior members on the weekends. Last year when they started to charge more and removed the free weekday skiing; the grooming fell off markedly. They took several days to groom after it snowed as compared to how quickly they opened all the trails like the day after a snow prior to then. They did not indicate which trails were groomed/tracked and when you asked bc it was not posted, you often got wrong info. Grooming used to be every day as opposed to every 2 or three days.
What got me after the last snow fall was that most of the trails, even major ones , were not done when I got there on Sunday , 6 days after the storm.
I do not think it is a winning formula to charge more and groom less. So if you are an intermediate skier, you may have to keep the the circuit trail or the roads.
I had bought a season pass, but next year I will not bc it isn't worth it if you can't start skiing the day after it snows.

Winter and summer we've hiked the trails at Notchview. Well maintained X-country ski trails in the winter.

I visited with my dog on the "dog-side" - it was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful, beautiful vistas and areas, and best of all-- snow! So appreciated having a dog track!

The best $45. I've spent in a while
Jan 2018 • Friends
I have been wanting to try cross country skiing, as I've always been a downhill skier. I have been interested in adding this to my winter activities. A friend and I booked a lesson with rentals for $45. You are able to arrive early and try the trails. The lesson started at 1 o'clock, it was with Heather, at 3:30pm we were still out on the trails. It was such a great experience and we learned so much from Heather. I went back again a few weeks later for one more lesson, I wanted to be sure I had enough of a skill set to ski on my own. I am glad I did. Highly recommend the lesson if you are interested in trying cross country, as its not as easy as it looks.

The best cross-country skiing around!
Feb 2018 • Couples
Came here with my girlfriend and we had a lesson for cross-country skiing by Heather, who was awesome! We had a great time, we learned a lot of new things, and it was just an all-around awesome trip. It’s so much easier to come to a place like this with cheap prices and little crowds to do some winter activities as opposed to going to a ski slope in the area and paying an arm and a leg to wait in lines.

We can’t wait to come back and try some of the great trails they have to offer!

Not just for winter!

Visited in July on our quest to hike or run in EVERY Trustees reservation. I chose a 4+ mile loop up and over Judges Hill then back via Bates road and Shaw road. There were a few other cars in the lot (4 or 5 bike riders and a couple of dog walkers) otherwise it was very quiet. My loop was uneventful. No views on the hill but some cool ruins (big fireplace). The smaller trails were a bit grassy (and ferny) but easily run-able. The bigger roads were in great shape and the fields were recently mowed (mown?). A very pleasant visit. This is a great place for a run/hike/bike etc.

Really good range of groomed cross-country skiing trails with a folksy little "lodge".
Mar 2017 • Couples
Celebrated our wedding anniversary in Berkshires. Planned the weekend around cross-country skiing stops. Notchview was perfect for us since we are Trustees of Reservations members and novice skiers planning to stay in Williamstown, MA. The weather and conditions cooperated. Fairly out of the way from any towns or cities but worth the ride. Good views, well groomed, interesting and varied trails. The "lodge" may be a bit too simple for some but it fit our needs well. I'd recommend the Trustees create a better "check-in" system in order to encourage payments from all users who are not TOR members (more members and payments, better facilities, more properties), but the trust system is a relaxing change for those of us used to suffocating oversight to everything in the Boston suburbs.

First-time cross crountry skiing

We went to Notchview for snow shoeing, but was persuaded to try croos country skiing. It was the perfect choice! We had a class with Heather - the best instructor ever - and could go by ourselves to the easiest trails. The scenery is outstanding. I highly recommend it, and look forward to coming back!
