Snow conditions here are good even when you may not have any snow out your window! which is the case this year (2020), grass at my house but 15" of snow here. Trails for all abilities and the grooming is top notch. They hold many high school races here.

I went to Notchview for the first time this past Saturday. I went because I read about a learn to cross-country ski for free event they sponsored. Everything I experienced, from the parking lot & lodge to the trails was excellent. Jim, my instructor, was knowledgeable, patient and very kind. I only did one trail -- the circuit -- which was a lovely way to break into the sport. I will be heading back again and trying a few more of the trails. The grooming was excellent, the trail was beautiful, the people were kind. A day like this would make me seriously give up downhill skiing.

Visited in July on our quest to hike or run in EVERY Trustees reservation. I chose a 4+ mile loop up and over Judges Hill then back via Bates road and Shaw road. There were a few other cars in the lot (4 or 5 bike riders and a couple of dog walkers) otherwise it was very quiet. My loop was uneventful. No views on the hill but some cool ruins (big fireplace). The smaller trails were a bit grassy (and ferny) but easily run-able. The bigger roads were in great shape and the fields were recently mowed (mown?). A very pleasant visit. This is a great place for a run/hike/bike etc.

I have been wanting to try cross country skiing, as I've always been a downhill skier. I have been interested in adding this to my winter activities. A friend and I booked a lesson with rentals for $45. You are able to arrive early and try the trails. The lesson started at 1 o'clock, it was with Heather, at 3:30pm we were still out on the trails. It was such a great experience and we learned so much from Heather. I went back again a few weeks later for one more lesson, I wanted to be sure I had enough of a skill set to ski on my own. I am glad I did. Highly recommend the lesson if you are interested in trying cross country, as its not as easy as it looks.

This is great place to cross country ski. They have snow when no one else has it. Fantastic views, well groomed trails. They now have a rental shop for skis and snow shoes and warm soup from the Old Creamery. Very friendly, nice little lodge.
My only complaint is on busy weekends the fact that the trails are two way can be a bit frustrating.

We cross country ski at Notchview Reservation in Windsor several times every winter. The trail system is well groomed for both skate skiing as well as traditional nordic skiing. There are two shelters out on the trails where you have take your snack and enjoy terrific views of the Berkshire hills. The staff at Notchview is always friendly and helpful and there is now a cafe and ski rentals in the lodge. Notchview is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, the oldest conservation organization in the country.

Excellent conditions! Perfect place to cross country ski having lots of natural snow. Trails are easy to moderate and are groomed and gorgeous. Clubhouse has lots of places to warm up and have a coffee or snack. We were able to both use our own skis and also rent ones for our so .

Best conditions are when trails have been tracked. Then, it's the best skiing around. Even when there's no snow in the Pioneer Valley, there'll be great skiing here.

I have gone to Notchview for the last 15 years. In the beginning, they allowed senior members to ski free on the weekdays and gave a discount to senior members on the weekends. Last year when they started to charge more and removed the free weekday skiing; the grooming fell off markedly. They took several days to groom after it snowed as compared to how quickly they opened all the trails like the day after a snow prior to then. They did not indicate which trails were groomed/tracked and when you asked bc it was not posted, you often got wrong info. Grooming used to be every day as opposed to every 2 or three days.
What got me after the last snow fall was that most of the trails, even major ones , were not done when I got there on Sunday , 6 days after the storm.
I do not think it is a winning formula to charge more and groom less. So if you are an intermediate skier, you may have to keep the the circuit trail or the roads.
I had bought a season pass, but next year I will not bc it isn't worth it if you can't start skiing the day after it snows.

Winter and summer we've hiked the trails at Notchview. Well maintained X-country ski trails in the winter.
