Better than Santa's Workshop

Don't blow by this local treasure. Martha's Vineyard Glassworks is an experience that will delight visitors of all ages. In plain view, professional glassblowers are creating works of art all day long. Even on a warm day, the cross breeze in the two-level structure keeps the temperature comfortable in the work/gift shop where an intense fire burns all day long. The masterpieces displayed on the second floor are breathtaking. The Deck Prism, featured on a table in the front of the shop and on the checkout counter, makes a unique souvenir or gift, especially for your mariner friends.

Different with COVID restrictions but very kind
Aug 2020 • Family
We stopped with our 4 kids (aged 13 down to 5) and loved seeing the beautiful pieces. We had to split into smaller groupings due to Covid and the glass blowing was also different due to precautions as well. The worker was very knowledgeable and kind. We would have stayed longer but limited our time due to the number of people allowed inside.

Even if you don't like glass...

...this place is really fun! Aside from many items of lovely glass work, you can often find the artists onsite creating new work. The folks and artists are very friendly here, and be sure you check out the works on the second floor!

Unique
May 2018 • Couples
While touring Martha's Vineyard, the glass company was a place of interest. It was worth the visit. They have glass blowing going on at times. Several different pieces to look at and check out. We used the island bus service that has a stop right in front of the shop. All were accommodating and helpful. Worth the stop if you want that unique gift to take home.

Actual art in the making!
Jul 2017 • Family
View glass blowing without glass between you and the artist! Unique art and an amazing skill. Small gallery to view and purchase. Prices are a bit expensive but if the right item hits you....

So Glad we Stopped!
Sep 2016 • Friends
I kept seeing this sign from the road, and we finally decided to stop in. We are so glad we did! I will definitely be bringing visitors here. The glassblowers were so informative and friendly. Explaining what they were doing, how they started and answering all kinds of questions while they were working. It is a fascinating process and the glass produced is beautiful. It's one big room with the glassblowers on one side and the items to purchase in the other. So while the kids will like to see the glass blowing, definitely keep them in check or else you will be purchasing a lot of broken glass! There is also a small gallery upstairs, with some fantastic works of art. It seemed to be a family business. They also pack and/or ship, in case you are worried about taking items home.

Glass blowing in action
Nov 2016 • Solo
They demonstrate and blow one (1) glass creation a day.
Fascinating to watch and so delicate in detail.
Also exhibit and sell glass by other famous glass blowers.

A Very Special Art Experience on Martha's Vineyard!
Aug 2016 • Friends
The Martha's Vineyard Glassworks is a special treat for visitors to Martha's Vineyard. The gallery is filled with beautiful examples of art glass from the local artisans and from other glass artists throughout the country. The demonstrations are so informative and the ability to ask questions back and forth with the glass blowers makes the experience even more meaningful. While the artworks are expensive when you are able to see the process in action it helps to understand the value in the artworks. We have had so many wonderful experiences here with our houseguests over the years. We would highly recommend a visit when you are on the island.

Interesting visit to view glass blowing - but no more
Oct 2015 • Couples
this is a large shop, which probably grew out of the original craft workers activities. In the front there are extensive displays of small and large glass items, all produced by present and visiting artists. the quality is extremely variable, mostly what one could call commercial standard, but none the less individually produced, albeit on a 'production line' - repeating the same idea several times. Viewing the glass making is spectacular and interesting, suitable for passing visitors and their children. I walked out without buying anything, the prices being hugely excessive for the discerning.
