When the sun's shining in Boston, nothing beats a jaunt to the ocean to feel the sand in your toes. Avoid the trouble of renting a car with this hassle-free full-day excursion, complete with travel from Boston to Martha's Vineyard. Just hop aboard your bus from the city to the shore, where you take a ferry from Cape Cod, and enjoy the day soaking up the sea breeze.

Cute little store to stop by as you explore the island. They certainly do have everything from groceries to souvenirs and every necessity in between but the prices are retail. We had fun looking around but just bought some candy for the road trip. It was a fun place to stop.

The store has gone upscale this year. Gone are the crammed beach chairs, etc. from the front porch. All the stuff inside has been cleared out an organized. A new candy bar (maybe it was there before in another location, but frankly it was hard to see anything in there), more upscale soaps, household gift items. The usual last minute food stuff. The beach stuff is all in the building in the back, where the farm stand was. The farm stand produce has been moved into the main store. But frankly, compared to the way it was when it was separate, there is hardly any produce and NO cheese. I used to love making a pilgrimage mid-week just for that. It's great to have room to move now, but they need to beef up the farm stand stuff.

While this store is a true landmark with excellent variety and some very good products (e.g. fresh fruit and vegetable, fresh bakery products, etc.), the service we received was arrogantly indifferent/rude

Alley’s has long had many and varied products, but it was sometimes hard “in season” to shop with 1/3 of the store taken up by the line waiting to pay, which sometimes included people needing to be taken to find the item(s) they needed. All gone with a new store layout that’s open and easy to navigate, (Monday through Thursday);)

Nice general store with lots of stuff. Produce, food stuffs, cold beverages, gifts, housewares and even a post office! Interesting stop.
