1st time to the Big E. We loved it! There is soooo much to see! The New England state buildings were interesting along with foods and products from each state. Tons to eat and drink. Lots of shops. Will definitely come back next year!

Been going there for over 30 years. Each year it gets more and more expensive. It’s very difficult to afford for a family of four. Though the activities are good, but lines are long. Between parking, traffic, long lines and high costs. Our tradition will...More

The Big E is a wonderful place for a family. There are so many free shows and activities. We saw the circus which was wonderful, had lots of funny acts, animal acts and some dangerous ones. Comfortable seating. We also saw the Navy ensemble with...More

This place is huge. When I arrived on 10/27/18, it was raining. Only parking available was in the dirt and it was ugly. The buildings themselves weren't bad; however, the set-up (done by the MA Rabbit Club - not the correct name) was just awful....More

How to avoid traffic and find parking for the Big E (4 Replies)
Hi - I'm planning to attend the Big E this weekend and since I know I can not get an early start the traffic is going to be crazy. Any advice on back roads or ideal parking areas that will help me avoid some of the traffic, etc? Thanks in advance for the help! Emily

Hi, if you are coming from Boston, get off the Pike at Exit 6 - the Springfield exit, as you come thru the tolls, head straight to the lights, turn left on Rt. 290, follow 290 until you see the signs for West Springfield, Rt. 20 West, follow 20 West, you will cross over the North End Bridge onto a rotary - take second exit from rotary, onto Park St, West Springfield (the Town Common will be on your left,) follow Park thru two lights, and at 3rd light, turn left onto RIver St. Turn left on to...More

After help from TA's forum I have now planned my New England trip. We fly in to Boston and stay for 3 nights, 3 nights Cape Cod, Newport 1 x night, Portsmouth 1 x night, North Conway x 2 nights, Stowe x 1 night, Peterborough 1 x night, Mystic x 1 night and Springfield 2 x nights. Unfortunately it would make more sense to do Springfield before Mystic but I am wanting to go to the Big E exhibition which is on 13 September so I had to work around that. Our flight is not till 9pm at night so I...More

Why don't you drive to Concord and have lunch and walk around. Leaves short drive to Boston. Further out is Sturbridge.

You don't want to stay at the Clarion. Of the 3 places you have listed, I would go with the Comfort Inn. Another decent place is the Hampton Inn. There are lots of nearby restaurants, both chains & independent. On The Border, a nearby Mexican restaurant has a pretty good bar.
