We rented in the third week of June (during Covid). All of the staff wore masks and there was zero contact between people. They greeted us outside, we didn't need to go into the building at all if we didn't want to. They also offered us a restroom and changing room that were clean and sanitized.

3 rented three paddleboards and 1 kayak. They brought all the equipment down to the water for us and helped us get settled with some basics and a map. All of the staff were super-friendly and professional.

Note: One of our paddleboarders had a hard time with it and we ended up towing him back (with the kayak). If you don't have good core muscles, paddleboarding may not be for you!

And, because we didn't have our phones, to our surprise we ended up staying out much longer than we were supposed to. (And it was the end of the day -- they probably wanted to go home!) But the staff was more than understanding and they just laughed it off.

Bonus: The restaurant Sundancer's is right behind Bass River Kayaks and it was easy to walk down and have dinner!

We stopped in one morning to do an off-site paddle board rental without a reservation. They were absolutely slammed at the time with walk-in customers, but they handled it beautifully. Masterful multi-tasking! I was impressed. We had great service, the pricing was reasonable, and we were in and out quickly. I would certainly recommend them. (Also, the guy that loaded our board was a WVU grad, so another plus in our book! 💙💛).

My husband and I had a great experience renting Kayaks from Bass River. The customer service was amazing! We were given a laminated map to take with us, shown the best routes, given the wind direction and currents. Prior to launching another employee reviewed procedures with us and put the kayaks in the water. Then, she reappeared just as we returned to help us out and take care of the kayaks. Usually when we rent kayaks we are given our kayaks and are on our way. The employees at Bass River went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience!

We came down to the Cape to get away from the stress of the pandemic. Bass River kayaks definitely fit the bill. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Masks were everywhere as were hand sanitizers. Social distancing was definitely taking place at this establishment. Paddling on the bass River was beautiful and relaxing. I hadn’t been in a kayak in over 20 years, and this experience makes me want to go back over and over again. I highly recommend this company.

We rented a couple of kayaks and we had a blast! They brought the kayaks to where we wanted to put in and then picked them up when we completed our trip. The were even willing to transport the kayaks to a lake, if we wanted to. We were very pleased with their service. I highly recommend them.

Wonderful place! Everyone was super friendly. Staff explained everything about the river with a map which was given to us for the excursion. Quick lessons were given to us for kayaking and paddle boarding. It was nice that we could choose which activity to do. There are a few nice beach areas to stop at for a break. Reasonably priced. We went shortly after opening and it was not crowded.

First time kayaking - one single for me (mom), dad and 8 yr old daughter did a 2 person. The guy who checked us in was super knowledgeable. At the put out location the kids working there were efficient and knowledgeable as well. The trip was great (except my shoulders got tired). We saw 2 osprey in a nest. Tons of ridiculously expensive homes and boats. Lots to look at. We'd do it again in a heartbeat. We used a coupon for $1 off and a free half hour!

Over Fathers Day weekend a friend rented a 12’ Perception kayak (I had my own.) On Saturday we found the owners to be very engaging and friendly. We are experienced kayakers but asked all kinds of questions about the best places to go. They know the tides and sent us out accordingly (against the tide when you’re “fresh”.) They have laminated maps with all kinds of info too.

After getting all set up they delivered the boat to the public launch next door. The staff were all so engaging and clearly enjoying themselves as they interacted with guests. Even though I had my own kayak, they were as equally friendly and helpful.

We paddled for four hours “downstream”. It couldn’t have been better. Upon reaching the landing, we found staff waiting to help us BOTH out of the water. We were really impressed with this group of people.

So when we decided to kayak again on Sunday, we knew where to go. Some new faces behind the desk, but others remembered us. We headed upstream this time for a completely different experience. Again upon arrival back at the launch... they were waiting.

There is no doubt I would take my family and friends to Bass River Kayak to rent gear!

My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary with a kayak ride on Cape Cod. We called different companies (there are many) to see about taking a tour. We have our own kayaks but wanted to learn more about the marine life and the area we were staying--Bass River.

While Bass River Kayaks was not offering tours, Abbey (the owner or manager) invited us to stop by for information such as tide charts, advice on where to paddle etc. She did this knowing that she wasn't going to make a dime on us.

It reminded me of the kind of Cape Cod hospitality I remember from 30 years ago when I lived and worked on the Cape.

We had a wonderful kayak on the river, thanks in part to Abbey, and will be sure to give her business in the future. (I bet she'd be a great storyteller too if you could get her to go for a beer!)

My girlfriend and I went kayaking on the bass river with this company last week. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our hour taking in the natural beauty of the river shoreline. Well worth doing.
