Worth a detour
Aug 2020
An old building complex in midst of a quaint village and a bucolic landscape transformed into an interesting modern art museum. Who would have thought of it?
Evidently a wealthy Polish art collector.
The results are definitely worth a visit.

Shame about (some of) the art: great building though
Feb 2020 • Family
Wonderful conversion of an old monastery-cum-brewery which opened in this remote village in the Lower Engadine in 2019. A wealthy Polish heiress has invested millions in the construction work and installed her personal favourite art, all very modern. You probably won’t like all the art, you might not even like any of it at all; but if you are in the area do go and see the building. Some of the art presently on show is sexually explicit and there are appropriate warnings, but some is harmless. Much of it is wacky. There is a wall of photos of real Nazis. There is a twisted black metal spiral staircase. There are doors made of cloth to look like old wood. I didn’t try the bistro/café but that looks cosy and I read good reviews about the chocolate cake. Interesting modern Polish jewellery in the tiny “shop”, a small cupboard.

Poland in the Engadin
Oct 2019
Susch is not the most attractive village in the Engadine, but a stop here now makes sense, since the opening of the 'Muzeum Susch' inside several houses like a former monastic building and some traditional Engadin houses.close to the church and the Planta house with its tower.

The 'Muzeum' (written officially in the Polish way) is a creation by Polish entrepreneur and arts patron Grazyna Kulczyk. For it she commissioned two Swiss architects, who had to always be aware that the houses they had to work on were protected, so a lot went underground.

All in all I was quite impressed by the combination of traditional building and modern art and architecture, creating a special atmosphere. Most exhibits, all in separate little niches and rooms, were by contemporary female artists from Poland and Switzerland.

The temporary main exhibit was about the visionary Emma Kunz, whose geometrical spiritual drawings were not of much interest to me. We then went to the nice looking restaurant, but it was so busy and service never arriving that we left.

What a terrible organisation!
Aug 2019 • Couples
This place is completely not prepared to handle guests. Huge line for tickets - not because there were so many people but because only one person was selling tickets, in a quite unorganized manner. Bistro - a complete nightmare! One waiter for 3 rooms with tables. Why even have this bistro? would be more efficient if they offered only a self-service bar with snacks/cakes. On top of that one cannot carry even a 10l backpack into the exhibition- fair enough but there is no proper garderobe so you have to leave the backpack on the floor and hope no one takes it☹️Works on display quite average - they do not justify time spent in this place.

Don’t believe the media-hype
Jun 2019 • Friends
Don’t believe the media-hype, fabricated and disseminated by PR agencies and paid for by the museum founder, supposedly “the richest woman in Poland”, with acquired taste for contemporary art.
Lots of mediocre works of art to view, selected with almost chauvinistic criteria: Female and of Polish nationality.
A huge misunderstanding of what actually art is about.

Magical museum in the sleepy village
Jun 2019 • Couples
The new open museum built on the site of 12th century monastery. The spectacular project of two young Swiss architects offers multiroom exhibition for different works of art. The collection shows the contemporary art of various artists, but dominated by the female creators. As the founder and spritus movens of this project is Polish art collector Grazyna Kulczyk, the important part of the exhibits come from Poland and they are masterfully presented among other contemporary arts. Some of them could be controversial, some of them even shocking, but all deserve for visitor’s admiration and deep reflection.
The entrance fee is symbolic, the museum offers free parking lot and after visiting the exhibition there is option for a lunch or snack at the Museum Bistro.
Very recommended place.

Amazing building and location
May 2019
I will visit the museum soon but we already enjoyed the bistro. Great location, very good ane healthy food and really nice welcome by the young team. A must go if you are in the area. I just do not know how to create a specific entry for the restaurant on Tripadvisor...
