We expected great things from our visit to Old Sturbridge Village and were not disappointed. My boyfriend was mainly interested in the blacksmith shop and the tin shop. He was able to converse with the smiths in both shops. He was impressed. The scenery was...More

This place has amazing history of the heritage of early America! The people that work there do a great job in making history come alive. There are several demonstrations for things like tin artwork, a silversmith, real life demonstrations of a sawmill and also some...More

This is a fantastic place for kids and adults alike. So much to learn do and see. A beautiful day helps. Very interactive and hands on. The Oliver Wright House for brunch is great.

The old village was lush with fall colors and the historian-actors. We felt lucky: yarn dying, tinsmithing, blacksmithing the grist mill and saw were all inhabited by historians and workings were operational. The second day is free(within ten days); if you get the green "return...More

You should have at least a half day at the living museum. Everyone is dressed in the costume of the day and doing the work done in the 1800's. We enjoyed watching the blacksmith working on some tin utensils for a home including tin mugs...More

This is a re-enactment of an 1830s New England village. It's complete with actors, carriage rides, stage coach rides and various demonstrations on how people made it through life in the 1830s. The admission for getting in is a bit steep but it's definitely worth...More

Experience America in the early 19th century. There are costumed people working, doing daily chores. Butter making, animals, farming, a church and ect. Great for all ages.

I visited some years ago and had fond memories. It was with some trepidation that I arrived this time, wondering if things had changed for the worse. I should have known better - they do this sort of open air museum so well in the...More
