I've been to Mystic river reservation twice during my stay in Boston: once for a morning hike, and another time in the evening for sunset. The reservation is amazing, can't believe such beauty exists so close to our apartment (we stayed in Somerville), fantastic trails, beautiful views of the river, within just 5 minutes drive. But then, on my last... More

2+ miles of paved walking paths that uses two bridges over the Mystic to make a loop. New boardwalk connects under route 28 to Assembly Row and tons of food, Starbucks, ice cream, shopping, and a movie theater. Could be kept up better. Use some caution at the far East and west edges as there may be homeless camps there.

The area is nice and has some parking for people to bring their bicycles, dogs and children to play but there is nothing attractive to keep you there other than nature itself. The paths do not have flowers and there are not enough seats around the river. This place has potential but needs serious uplifting and some recreational area for... More

Several turnouts for parking along Mystic Valley Parkway, then plunge into the woods along the well kept trail. Even last Sunday, saw very few other travelers. Note: 6.9 mile hike to top of the hill.

After shopping across the street at a plaza that hosts TJ Maxx, my friends and I were delighted with the lovely reservation to soak up nature and to relax. I was impressed with the view of the small harbour of boats and dock area. We sat on a park bench and soaked up the tranquility of the area and the... More

I love riding my bike here and I don't feel like I am going to be killed. Careful of pedestrians, the advent of headphones have made them deaf so they don't hear you coming. I ride on the grass to avoid them. The path is rough not meant for road bikes. Better suited for hybrids and mountain bikes.

There's a perfect cycling route from Somerville or Medford, right along the river, with plenty of distractions along the way, including this reservation.

This is a great place for bike riding. Close to Boston, great parking next to the State Police Headquarters. Accessible from route 16. The ride around the Mystic River reservation is about 3 miles. Most are paved which are excellent if you just want to jog or walk. Ideal for parents that want to train kids in their bicycles. No... More

I am visiting my son who lives in Arlington with the Mystic River as a boundary. It is a beautiful meandering river with well shaded walk ways popular with joggers and geese. People with boats are on the river enjoying summer with the family. On top of it a bus ride or a cup of coffee are just 10 minutes... More
