Not much to see off season

Still, one of the largest cranberry bogs anywhere and quite impressive. There are trails, but you can go right up to the bogs.

We stopped by the Milestone Bog to see how cranberries are grown. We were there in late September just before harvest so we could see lots of cranberries all over the bog area. If you are not familiar with a cranberry bog this is worth a short stop.

Gorgeous nature preserve. Gets a bit rough to walk in with sharp/very stiff-branched groundcover. Great place on a cloudy day.

This Conservation Land Comprises 700 acres, of which 400 are cranberry bogs. Exploring this property is a nice outdoor activity on Nantucket.Be sure to walk down to Gibbs Pond, the source of water for the Bogs

We visited during their cranberry festival. It was fun! They had a cranberry sorting machine (photo#1), sheep (photo#2), cranberry cookies & chocolate covered cranberries to try, wagon hay rides, etc. You were able to walk into the bogs (along the roads through the bog). There were cranberry bushes (photo#3). They flood the bog to make the cranberries float for harvest... More
