This is an amazing place to view wildlife, get outdoors, and see some nice views. It is not huge, but quite wonderful.

Plan to spend a few hours exploring this property. There are about 3 miles of trails; a mix of easy and moderate. Woodland trails are beautiful along the Housatonic River where you will see beaver dams, song birds and turkey. The “cobble” is interesting and adds an extra element of mystery. Open field trails are easy and well groomed. The... More

We read about this place and it is pretty easy to find west of Hwy 7 towards the Connectcutt border. There is a visitor center and the ranger was very helpful and informative. We paid $5 per person to use the reserve, and hiked around the "cobble" and then up to the top of the highest point in the reserve... More

Plenty of trails to choose from.i went inside the center and was greeted by several stuffed wildlife mounts.which was very nice.i then spoke with the man who was working there about the trails.he broke it down by how long of a hike I wanted,1 hr 2 he etc.he then suggested a trail.the trail was short and sweet. I spooked an... More

It was a beautiful day and quite a scenic hike. There were numbers along the way that were to teach you about unique things in the woods, but we couldn't find any pamphlet that told us about the numbers. We walked to the Ashley house as well , which is only open infrequently but still a nice walk.

My husband and I came up from CT to hike this place. We didn't see a single person on the trails, only at the visitor center. We chose to hike the ledges trail, then the spero loop and then the boulder trail to the borland trail back to the visitor center. It was around 3 miles. It was a beautiful... More

My son, his wife, my husband and I did this hike in the dead of winter. It was cold and icy in places(do be careful I couldn't see the ice under the snow and I slipped a couple of times) but the views of the mountains and the streams running through the paths made it all worth it. This is... More

Botanical, geological, historical, and wow the wildlife! As a natural scientist, it is always a wonder to visit a place with such a rare set of conditions combined with world-class stewardship. The rare plants are everywhere. The staff present during my visit were deeply knowledgeable and passionate which added to my experience I will return with my family.

A Lovely wooded, wonderfully place to walk, next door to the Ashley house - which does not have very convenient hours, but is an absolute must. The home of Colonel Ashley and his family, as well for many years of his slave Mum Bet, who sued for, and won, her freedom in 1781. (1781) The guide is charming, fun and... More

We spent a week in the birkshires with our own family and our extended family. We went on many excellent hikes and little adventures. Today we visited at Bartholomew's cobble and had a wonderful day. We arranged a private canoe trip with Rene who was simply wonderful. We had a lot of fun canoe the river, learning about various aspects... More
