Beautiful View

This is a quick stop but well worth it. Very picturesque! Enjoy! Met a fisherman there who was actually fishing for bass.

I Believe It is closed for the season But not sure.

The Mill is a beautiful site. I walked around it taking pictures. The sound of the running water is very pleasant as is the view of the pond in front of the mill. Today the mill was not in operation but there were a few people walking around. I need to return to see it it in action but todays visit was enjoyable.

Cute

This was a cute little stop. You don't need more than 30 minutes here, but it is interesting to see the history and it is still a working mill. Across the street is the church that is on the Elvis gospel album cover. Nice bonus.

Working history

This was a great learning tour. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. It's always nice to learn about the history of our area. Very interesting to learn how the corn is processed as well as about the machine used to do this.

The town's Mill
Sep 2019
the Mill was used for the town's people to bring their corn and have it milled for them. We watched the water wheel turn and grind the corn into fresh meal. They didn't have flour so they used corn for their breads, etc. Interesting and informative and the tour guides were great. Ken, gave me the recipe for Indian pudding made from corn meal...can't wait to get home and try it. Only $5 admission per person (cash only)

Fabulous Historic Grist Mill!
Sep 2018
I have always liked grist mills and Dexter's did not disappoint! Wonderful tour guide, still operates today and I even purchased some corn meal. It made my suitcase heavy, but I baked some delicious cornbread when I got home.

Smells

The Grist Mill wasn't worth seeing, it just looks like a swamp. It wasn't working while we were there and I don't see the point of visiting it. The Glass Museum was worth seeing.

Too bad it was just open to private tours

We had planned to visit several sites in Sandwich, MA during our travels in Cape Cod. Sadly, you could only visit inside the mill if you were part of a tour group, and the mill’s cornmeal also was not available. That said, the building is interesting and is worth seeing and taking photos. The timing of our visit was just not ideal as the mill would be open to all (with paid admission) a few weeks after our visit. Thus, I strongly recommend contacting the Grist Mill if it is a potential stop on your travel itinerary to make sure you can see it operate.

Beautiful area with an old world feel. Tourists will love the area with the Glass Museum across the street, beautiful old churches and antique homes all around. A tranquil New England setting! Must see!
