Fun stop for the kids
Jun 2019
This is a fun place to take the kids. There are thousands of fish (all trout I think) that you can feed and watch the water boil. The fish vary in size depending on what tank you're looking in. Its a good mellow place to kill an hour with the family.

Always Curious

I have driven by the Sandwich Fish Hatchery many times, always with another destination. I purposed to go and visit, and enjoyed it very much. Love seeing so many trout and the names. Will be great for my young grandsons in the summer.

It's free to enter. Bring quarters for fish food
Aug 2019
We visited with our family. It's a really quick visit, 15 minutes are so to walk around. If you have very young children that could probably take longer since they might enjoy feeding the fish. You can purchase fish food for quarters I believe. When we went they were working/moving and weighting the fish. That made it a bit more interesting since we were able to ask the staff questions.

A quick, free activity on route 6A

Lots of fun to feed the fish, even though it was blistering hot and humid the day we went. Bring a couple dollars worth of quarters to buy the fish food out of the vending machine.

The kids loved this visit

We had the Littles with us this weekend and they enjoyed visiting the hatchery. This place is so nice to visit and they have picnic tables here too, we saw a family having lunch. 25 cents buys you fish food to feed the many fish in the troughs ... there were even ducks here trying to get fed. Fun family afternoon!

Bring a Cup to hold your Fish Food...You can't leave without feeding the fish.

Stopped by before a storm while out running errands. The place is very peaceful. I bought about $1 worth of food from the gumball feed machine. Looked at all the varieties of Trout, most of them seemed cold and took a few minutes to realize the food was on top of their water. Interesting place. Will return. Noticed a picnic table if you want to lunch there in better weather. Also noticed you can get some great photos of various birds flying over the fish and into the trees.

Free Fishy Fun

So this place breeds and feeds the local trout that they use to stock all the local ponds.
It's environmental so carry in carry out any trash or items. Being quarters and a disposable cup or small container to buy fish food and feed the fish. They jump up and swarm for every little bit.
Unless you plan to bring a picnic and just enjoy nature plan on 15-20 minutes here to walk and feed the fish.
Nice quick stop off activity, open daily from 9a-3p - but there's are no bathrooms, so be prepared for that.

It’s Free!

Can’t complain too much about a free activity! Maybe a less than hour stop for the kids to feed the varying stages of trout. Quarter vending machines for a handful of fish food, fyi no bathroom facilities.

Interesting stop. Nice to see the many varieties of fish. Visited in June, did not see employees other than those working hard to maintain the area.
Could leisurely walk through the pools looking at the variety of fish. Most pools were labeled. Nice stop. Free.....you can feed the fish..you can buy fish food from the dispenser.
