A nice place to take break on a hoot day. Watch the short movie on how the canal was built. Climb aboard the boat. Good for kids.

They show a video and there is a lot of written information to read about the building of the canal. They do offer some books and also pictures for sale. You can pick up a tide chart and booklets about Sandwich and also other parts of the Cape. The staff of duty was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We could see... More

A fun & free stop for the family when visiting Cape Cod. We attended a "lobster info" talk where they let the kids pull in actual traps from the canal, and do touch-tank learning. Fun & informative in just two rooms, so easy to do in a short stop. Interactive activities for the kids.

The 'new' center is a comprehensive interactive display documenting the construction of the canal, from the first 'boondoggle' to the final completion. Learn everything from dredging techniques to camera observation posts, to whales which get 'lost' in the canal. The center is designed to engage the whole family.

We stopped in after taking a canal cruise and having lunch before turning around and heading back for the return cruise. Staff was friendly and the small exhibit and information were nice. Not much here though.

A very nice visitors center with a museum about the Cape Cod Canal. Very informative with beautiful museum displays. They even have a boat there to tour! It was free but they accept donations.

Typical visitor center had maps and handouts as well as a pleasant staff member to assist. Not a necessary stop but did point us in the right direction

The center itself is small, but is full of activities for kids and adults alike. My son (5) loves coming here to see the boats on the radar screen then right outside as they make their way into the canal. You can watch a short film on the making of the canal, try your hand at knots, and kids can... More
