A Must Stop on Cape Cod
Heritage Museums and Gardens is a great place to spend part of a day. If traveling anywhere on the cape, a stop at the gardens is worthwhile. One may ride an antique carousel, view antique automobiles, learn more about the history of Cape Cod, or simply enjoy strolling through the gardens.

    So much unexpected fun!
Hydrangeas, Antique Autos, Flume Fountain, Windmill, and a Carousel. What's not to love at this place. If you visit, take one or more of the Nature Trails, off the paved trails. We were there for three hours. Hiked quite a bit, and took our time through the Automobile Gallery (well worth it!). Really, this was one of our highlights of our visit to the Cape, and we did not get to see it all.

    Beautiful place to visit!
We just visited here for the first time today. Beautiful place! Lots of gardens to stroll through and they even have trails off the paved paths. The antique car museum there was great! We rode the carousel, climbed into the treehouse, and walked the labyrinth. They even had a Cape Cod exhibit in another building. Amazing place to spend time surrounded by nature!

    Beautiful! You must visit!
Gorgeous gardens, grounds and exhibits. This place exceeded my expectations. It was so beautiful and had so many different areas to explore. The Cape Cod exhibit was great, very informative. Wish I would have bought the book at the gift shop. I loved the carousel! The employees were very nice and helpful. Definitely a great experience.

Beautiful space for everyone, including a 4yr old!
Great experience for a family visit spanning 3 generations, a little something for everyone! We walked the whole path and spent a good 4hrs covering all the grounds. Our 4 year old especially loved the hollow and tree house, played for a good while in that space. Bring lunch there are some nice pleace to eat

    A lovely experience
This was our second time back to the gardens and we loved it just as much the first time. Some of the exhibits that were closed 2 years ago were reopened which made the experience feel new. The rotating exhibit was also a nice change and very interesting. Every part of the gardens is lovely to walk thru and explore. Plus the car exhibit adds a whole other element to the experience. If you love nature walks this is a must see on the Cape.

    Excellent museum
Very interesting collection. The car museum has President Taft’s steam driven car! An amazing feat of engineering and style! Educational videos.. knowledgeable docent! Despite the inclement weather we were able to enjoy the grounds as week as the exhibits. Luncheon was a very good charcuterie board .. with great cheese and accompanying tidbits.

    Amazing place!
I was blown away by this place. The auto museum was so interesting with many autos on display. The trail and gardens were great. The small Cape Cod museum was interesting for the history. The 1908 Carousel was amazing and we were given 2 rides on it, so much fun!

These are some of the most beautiful gardens I've ever visited.
Mid July is the peak of hydrangeas this year, we visited at the end of the month. Still pretty amazing.
I had no idea hydrangeas could be so varied and beautiful. They also featured pollinator gardens and displays.
Inside the museum is a fascinating display of automobiles through the ages. Even Jay Leno would be impressed.
Great little shop for gifts too.

We enjoyed attending the well done and organized Aglow event. Low crowds even on a sold out night, ample parking, kept all the kids age 5-15 entertained for over an hour and very safe. Nice addition to our Covid holidays!

A round barn on the left just after entering the grounds houses a large collection of vintage, lovingly restored automobiles. Here, in an exhibit titled “From Carriage to Classic: How Automobiles Transformed America,” Heritage Museum & Gardens answers questions like, “How did gasoline become the fuel of choice?” Something is always blooming on the extensive and carefully manicured gardens: rhododendrons (May), azaleas (June), hydrangeas (July), etc. A “Garden of the Senses” (see any photo with a windmill in it) mixes color, fragrance, texture, and sound to engage the visitor’s senses on many levels. Hidden Hollow is an outdoor classroom dedicated to reconnecting children (of all ages!) with nature; a highlight is the massive 2-story treehouse.

We had a lovely afternoon wandering around the gardens. Although the carousel building is closed due to COVID, there are plenty of places to have a picnic and for kids to run around. The special exhibits building has a fun exhibit featuring games and toys developed in Massachusetts. The gardens are very well maintained and the Hidden Hollow is a sensory-wonderland for all ages.

Our extended family visited the Heritage Museum, during the Hydrangea Festival based on the recommendation of our Harwich neighbor. It was fabulous! Everything was picture perfect. The name “Heritage” somehow made us envision a stodgy, dusty museum. It was anything but and turned out to be a highlight of the visit with our 4-year-old granddaughter. The Car Museum display was exceptionally interesting and a blast! You get to “drive” a Model T. The whole family jumped on the restored Carousel. At the end of the (hot) day, we were lucky to get a ride back to the entrance on the Trolley. Absolutely worth a visit! Don't miss it.

This is actually an eclectic collection of a car museum, a museum on the modern history of Cape Cod, a carousel, a windmill and a Wampanoag summer house tied together with beautiful gardens of flowers, including a labyrinth and a maze. The flowers were gorgeous. The hydrangeas were in full bloom and there were special tours of them. We loved the car museum too – an impressive collection with very good plaques explaining the significance of each car. Since we’re members of the National Carousel Association, our first priority was to ride the carousel. The workers there were very friendly, helpful and took good care of all the riders. It’s a beautiful 1908 Charles Looff carousel, definitely a national treasure. We could see that it’s well cared for and that a few horses at a time are being refurbished in the off season. It would have been nice to see more of the animals presently in storage, but we really enjoyed the 3 that were displayed to one side.

This place is something I cannot believe I havent visited before. It is fantastic and the place is huge. I could not believe how large the grounds were here and so much to see and do and especially for kids. I was thinking this was going to be a few hydrangeas and lilies and a boring park sort of place. Was I ever wrong! There were mazes, archways, gardens, trails, pathways with all sorts of flowers, an entire garden of Hydrangeas sprawling over 2-3 acres, a building with old toys, another two floor building with antique cars, tons of water fountains and ponds. The kids absolutely loved the place and the staff could not of been friendlier. It was tucked away off Route 6 in Sandwich and you would never know it was even there it was so hidden. But I was glad we went and for the 4 of us, a mere $60 bucks went a long way!! Awesome!!

A lovely place to stroll around and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. The car museum was fun, 2 floors of antique cars, which apparently changes cars on display. interesting Eco sculptures and even a tree house for kids. We got there at 10:00 AM which was a perfect time to go
