Beach scene has been getting better over the last 3 years or so. It would be even better if some of the winter storm didn't create more repair work. Parking has been getting a little harder and more expensive. But still cheaper then some places...More

We visited the beach on a rather rainy morning, so there wasn't a lot of activity, but it is so cute, I'd love to return! Lots of carnival-type rides for the kids at Joe's Playland, and reasonably priced! Many places to grab a quick bite,...More

The beach is nice and not too crowded. On mid tide the surf can get rough and it kicks up small rocks. Other than that its a decent beach. The only problem I had was some residents who like to walk their dogs unleashed. Which...More

Went there on very humid day. Time at the beach was excellent. Kids played more outside than in water but they enjoyed it Parking and traffic were the issues.

Very huge and clean beach that spans out wide so you have lots of space to lay out. Don't feel congested. Water is clean with hardly any seaweed. Parking is free when you go away from main attraction area. If you do stay close to...More

On Sunday there were big waves and lifeguards closed the beach after some rescues. Usually not too big.

In the off season some are open only on weekends. I would suggest calling the particular place that you are interested in visiting.

Trip report and many thanks (1 Replies)
Just returned from our first amazing trip to Acadia with our adult children. Thanks so much for all the information posted on this forum. Here's some of what we enjoyed: We drove from Philly area, stopped to camp on the way up at Salisbury Beach, a gorgeous, clean state park in MA right on the beach. Camped at Camden Hills on the way home, another gem of a state park right outside the amazing little town of Camden. We stayed at a most perfect rental cottage right in the heart of Bar Harbor,...More

Salisbury is definitely experiencing a renaissance but has a little way to go. Questions that come to my mind are what time of year are you coming? Do you intend to stay in this one place for the two months? During summer time there are many house rentals available in Seabrook right on the beach or footsteps away from it. As to the Motel, I do not know anyone who has stayed there. I do know it is on a major road that is busy during the summer.

Could anyone recommend a seafood (lobster) restaurant for our family of 4 that is reasonably priced and casual near Salisbury Beach Ma?

Michael's Harborside in Newburyport. On the Salisbury side of the river, just opposite Michael's is Striper's Grille, just reopening under new management. For a real Lobster shack where you eat at picnic tables, we go to Bob Lobster on the road to Plum Island.
