I was camping by myself for the first time and hadn’t been camping even with friends in 10 years. I’ve only camped in California so wasn’t sure what to expect. I pulled in at 8:30, it was already dark. Bummer. But ok I can do this. Found my spot and someone offered me a flashlight and encouraged me to use my headlights to set up my tent. One of the campers had a string of twinkle lights which I love. It was sold out so very tight. Campers next to me were only a few feet away. Nice facilities but being TP bc most stalls were empty. Walked over to the beach and took in the view and the sounds of lapping water. Lots of skunks around. Lots. No skunk smell though. Slept well. Made coffee on micro camp stove in the morning for first time. Very proud of myself so yeah lots of instagram and tik tok french press coffee videos were made. Headed out the next morning for Acadia in Maine. No complaints. Had low expectations so really enjoyed it.

During this Covid-19 crisis, we have been left with little to do. My husband and I decided to try this beach. What a lovely experience. Parking is easy, it is never very crowded. We spend every Sunday morning here and thoroughly enjoy it!

On a windy fall afternoon, the kiosk charge for parking was $40. The place was empty, and we just wanted a short stroll along the beach with an infant, for an hour max. We left..not worth $74 for one in-state and one out of state cars. Maybe ok pricing for a summer day in the height of the season, but this was exorbitant.

I have been going to Salisbury Beach Reservations for many years now. I do not camp so I can not attest to that. For non residents visiting this State Beach it was 40.00 you can pay it at a kiosk in the parking area. Lot 2 and some others have a set of outdoor showers and bathroom facilities. No food trucks or eating facilities available so bring your own. Also what was nice is the boardwalk that you can take to get on the beach and you must walk the sand the rest of the way. Clean beach and lifeguards are on duty at posted times. Green heads were a bother a few weeks ago but seemed better last time. Pay attention to the conditions as this beach can have strong riptide currents.

If you like dogs running loose and having a beer before 10 AM this is a place for you.
I’m a dog owner so nothing against dogs.
People drinking beer before 10:00 AM tells you about the clientele.
Otherwise is a nice spot with good fishing.

Much too much money for camping with no sewer hookups. Out of State fee is $83.00 per night! Beach was nice but not worth this type of money. Out of state residents beware! They said it was for cleaning, but it was cleaner with Host campers! Not impressed for 83 per night!

This is one of my favorite spots to go with my dog. If you go all the way to the end and sit by the river near the campgrounds dogs are allowed. Its a great place to go with the dog. Be careful where you park. I made the mistake of parking near the boat dock late one day and that got me a ticket so now I know not to do that.

At the height of summer season, getting into this reservation can sometimes be a challenge, due to its well-deserved popularity. But it is open year-round, and fall light in the glistening dune grass, with the Merrimack River mouth in the foreground and the inviting blue profile of Cape Ann on the horizon, is well worth the trade-off with seasonably cold temperatures. The beach is unusually long for the Bay State, and affords equally rewarding views of both the river and ocean environments. To the immediate south, across the river, is the north end of the ever-enchanting Plum Island, and to the southwest are the many charms of Newburyport. Come any time of year, as your schedule (and in the summer, the crowd) allows; you will not be disappointed.

Camping at Salisbury is like camping a parking lot. There is no vegetation between you and the next camper. Its very open. I suggest you look at the site photos on a website CampsitePhotos (google it). We camped this weekend, middle of September and the place was packed, nearly at full capacity, which tells you how popular the place is even during the "off season." Our site A-37 was in the first row, so you don't have any campsites behind you, just the access road to the beach parking lot. When we got to our site, we noticed tons of trash in and around it. The firepit was loaded with garbage like empty case of beer box, empty bag of charcoal etc. Then strewn around the site, beer bottle caps, scraps of trash, tissues/wipes, etc. It was gross. I suggest you bring a rake to clean up your site because they clearly do not clean up between campers. The campground bathhouse was ok, old and tired and a little grungy, but just wash up quick and get out is my motto. But let's face it, you go to Salisbury for the beach, which does not disappoint. The water is clean, no seaweed or rocks. The only issue is at high tide, its hard for kids to swim since there is a significant drop off. The bathrooms at the beach are pit toilets and quite gross smelling. The beach area facilities seemed not taken care of with again garbage all over and overgrown vegetation. Its sad to see the entire park in such condition, probably a victim of state funding and lack of employees. We visit state parks all over New England and Salisbury by far is the dirtiest.
