Very peaceful and friendly atmosphere we Enjoyed a few days on the water and came back in the evenings for sunset. The people around were nice and respectful of each others space. I would give it 10 starts rating if it wasn’t for the excess of rocks and big ones that you can easily lose balance walking on them.

I was not at Long Beach for the sand though many were and it seems a very nice location with ample parking ($20.00) if arriving early, bathrooms and food. I came to bike out on the island and the rangers let me through with smiles. Birds were nesting and many wild life staff there to keep people off protected areas. Only limited number of 4 wheel drive vehicles allowed past initial parking lot but I found the unpaved road packed tight and easy for a bike. About 14 houses out there and lots of birds, osprey nesting on many platforms, and birds will dive at you during nesting so a hat is important. Road gets smaller and rougher the further you go. Past the last house you may care to walk to avoid disturbing birds but I did turn around when I saw too many were upset. They will poo on you as well.

that is unless you are a resident and have 4 wheel drive and want to fork over the money to drive out and onto the beach. The beach is very rocky as others have mentioned. If you look just the right way you can get a view of the wonderful Plymouth nuclear plant but all in all there is nothing beautiful or spectacular about the beach itself. It is the ocean coming up to the sand. Again, there are other locations in Plymouth that are a better choice.

Long Beach is a beautiful place. I plan my day at the beach around the tide. I like to arrive just as high tide hits and walk the length of the peninsula as the tide recedes. The sights are breathtaking and the sounds are soothing to the soul. I pack the sunscreen, plenty of water to drink, a bag for treasures and get lost for hours.
The public beach access can get a bit too crowded for me so I will be investing in the 4WD pass to drive beyond the public access with the family. Also a fabulous location for wave watching during storms. I've captured amazing footage and shots of water crashing over the wall.
*Tip ~ always be prepared for a difference in temperature, winds and quick change in the weather if you're heading out to the peninsula.

You need a resident beach sticker or if you are renting property you need to go to Town hall and get a visitors pass

Great beach to visit. You must have a Plymouth Beach sticker to access this beach. It is a 4 wheel drive beach and it is subject to the turns hatching season.

Beautiful beach, mostly sandy. Faboulous place to walk, you feel as though you can reach across and touch Duxsbury beach. The dunes look amazing but are out of bounds due to nesting plovers requiring protection. A 4 wheel drive is needed to cope with the deeply rutting track accessing the beach. Well worth the effort.

The sandy Long Beach peninsula looks very idyllic and inviting from the Plymouth Rock Monument. We started to drive out on the beach road but the road is purposely kept bumpy to reduce traffic and part way out the road turns to soft sand which makes it impassible for regular cars unless you have 4 wheel drive and large tires. A car got stuck ahead of us which caused us to turn around. It is best explored on foot.

Plymouth Long Beach is a beautiful peninsula of beach and land great for sunbathing, swimming, fishing, walking. The public beach access does get crowded in the summer months, A resident 4WD pass is needed to go out on to Long Beach beyond the public access.Early Spring and Summer most of the access is closed on the outer beach due to protected birds.

Excellent seafood. Fresh and delicious. Off the beaten path being out on the beach. It's worth a trip to the beach to enjoy this little restaurant. Outside shaded seating only and extremely crowded in the summer but worth the wait!
