ust went here last night for an author signing with stephanie garber of the caraval series and once upon a broken heart, first time coming in and as soon as i walked in on the first floor I was BLOWN away by what they were able to capture in this bookstore. I love how the building takes up the whole corner. The second floor is where the event was held and was blown away again their set up was STUNNING!!! did not realize till i got there they serve alcohol as well best believe next time i will be better prepared. they also sold additional books of the authors that were speaking right next to the bar which was super convenient. the only thing i would comment on is the organization of the actual signing some people were cutting and not waiting for their rows to be called and no one really regulated until the end. also maybe a tip for next time put a limit on how many books for signing we had some people with 20+ books for the author to sign. but all in all the staff was AMAZING and super nice and gave me all the best recommendations i could hope for. this was my first book signing with an author and i will be back here and already bought 3 event tickets already. just a tip if you sit towards the front you will be called first for signing just to save yourself time.

A nice little bookstore with plenty of books. We drove all the way here because Jeff Kinney the author of The Wimpy Kid books own this store. My Granddaughters love his books and we’re so happy to see all his books in one place.
Don’t worry adults, there are plenty of books for you. Plus a nice cafe to sit, drink coffee and enjoy your new book.

Stepping into this quaint bookstore/coffee bar was like stepping back in time. There was a large selection of books, as well as eccentric gift ideas, journals, and even toys and games. It was a wonderful way to spend an hour or so, and the staff was wonderful as well

Visited An Unlikely Story (Author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid is the owner) and had a wonderful time last night. Took my children there for story time which was a blast, my 4 year old absolutely loved it, my 5 year old was a bit skeptical and wasn't into the jokes so much. The building is just amazing with 4 floors of beauty. The cafe is warm and inviting with a nice selection of pastries, coffee and lunch items (which closes at 3:00). Pastries and coffee are still available until close however. The vibe is wonderful and it just makes me want to grab a book, a coffee at the cafe and sit in one of the comfortable leather chairs for hours. My only gripe, and I noticed it noted in other reviews, is that the book selection is a bit limited for the sheer size of the building; you would think there would be an opportunity for a little more selection.

The Pulitzer Prize award-winning investigative journalist and biographer Mike Stanton was at the An Unlikely Story book store in Plainville to discuss and answer questions on his book, the biography UNBEATEN, about Rocky Marciano, the greatest heavyweight champion of all time. A book signing and an opportunity to further talk with Mike followed an excellent local cable T.V. reporter hosted Q & A session who was also a former Brockton, MA resident, also Rocky's home town. Mike also shared that his book was recently optioned for a movie which, based on the 1950's - 1960's era when professional boxing was at its peak and the involvemnet of mob controlled venues and cross-cultural biases pervading American Society through sports back then, should make an exceptional sports movie of the times.

This building was an ancient general store that has been rehabbed. It is a delightful spot with books, gift items, tables for writing your novels, and good food. It’s worth a look see even if you are not on a particular shopping mission. Prices are reasonable. There are holiday tables on the second floor that are specialty items handmade by local people in season.

I live locally and had heard this was a great store. I popped in and have to agree! Its small, rustic and quaint. This is not meant to be a big conglomerate it has a homey feel. The staff is all very pleasant. The atmosphere is nice and enjoyable. They have a small section of unique gifts. I didn't see or participate in any of the events. The cafe had a small seating area that was warm and inviting. The second floor is empty - maybe for future use? This is a really nice, small store. Definately worth a visit if you are in the area. I think it is too small a store to draw anyone from a distance. Parking out back is tight but there is a lot across the street. If you support books (as opposed to electronic reading devices) and have the time to browse - stop in!
