What a beautiful building with all of it's art and history in paintings. However, it is the carousel and the beautiful horses and donkey that are the main attraction. The work put into these pieces of art are worth the visit by itself. I would call this a masterpiece and well worth a visit if you are in the Berkshires of Massachusetts.

I wanted to share a little magic and smiles with friends in town... the horses are unique and individual to this carousel, they all have a history of creation in the workshop. My friends kids were smiling and enjoying riding the horses and while enjoying some fresh popcorn.

We went this past Saturday to the carousel with family members. Our group ranged in age between 7 months through early 60s. There is a spinning cup for little kids to sit in and a four seater carriage that gently sways. The younger group rode the horses too. It was a great way to spend a sunny afternoon!!

We were told about this fabulous carousel and all the volunteer hours that were used to carve and paint this beautiful piece of art and future landmark. Everyone we came in contact with, from the charming and informative man who told us about the carousel and gave us a ride to the happy volunteers who sold us our tokens to the lovely couple who worked in the gift shop were informative and friendly. We visited on a cool, sunny Fall day and came away just in awe of all the work and talent that when into this wonderful testament to the tenacity of people with a vision. A perfect stop for children of all ages. A MUST SEE!

We stopped three years ago and continue to visit whenever we travel to Pittsfield MA. We were impressed that the town fathers felt this attraction could grow over time in a large city. We learned a great deal about the city, the attraction and the future of this attraction from the volunteers - thank you. The artwork was incredible and what a way to honor the nearby attractions/history.

My middle granddaughter had her 9th birthday party at the carousel. The volunteers were very nice to all the kids. The girls got instructions on painting a carousel horse. Got lots of rides and had a blast! Beautiful carousel. Great time for the kids.

The carousel is definitely worth visiting especially with young children. All the beautiful horses and animals were hand crafted by local artisans as a gift to the Berkshires. Parking is free and adjacent to the carousel and the ride is inexpensive. Hopefully more will be added to the area for children in the future.

Being a woodcarver, this was a MUST STOP during my vacation. So glad I did. All the horses/mules, panels, and chariots on the carousel are hand carved or handmade, beautifully painted and detailed. All around the carousel you will find hand painted murals of local places and people. You can buy tokens to ride the carousel or sit on one of the surrounding benches with hand painted animal motifs and watch this beautiful display spin around and around. The gentleman running the carousel was very kind and informative. Outside is a small snack bar and a gift shop around back. The day we were there, there was supposed to be a craft show and car show, but sadly there was neither. It's well worth it to go to their website and read about the making of, the artists that worked on this project, and all the hard work that went into this local icon.
