IPA had a weird aftertaste. Service was pretty good but the set up was odd. We thought we were at the brewery but had to order food and then got separate receipts for the food (from the attached restaurant) and beer. Appetizers were decent but we were there for the beer and it was not.

Ordered Bangers and Mash Poutine… received soggy french fries covered in cheese with no Banger sausage. Asked waitress and she pointed out a couple grain sized bits of nothing. No apologies, no sausage. Don’t order or expect and remedies for any food shortcomings.

We went to Hog Island Brewery last month. My husband and I like craft beer and when we saw this brewery was 10 minute from our inn, we decided to check it out. I am going to start by saying that overall our visit was disappointing. We arrived at the host stand and were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We were fine sitting outside. We were then told to take a picture of the menu board that was on the ground. We were a little confused on this as the host also had menus in his hand that he gave us at our table. Well it turns out that the menus we were provided were not up to date. We didn't want to have to get back up and go back to the host stand so we just asked what beer on the menu they did have. I ended up with a summer ale and my husband ended up with a Fiddlehead which is from VT. We couldn't understand why the board was not outside.  We live in MA and have been out a number of times so we're aware of the governor's order that we need to order food with our drinks. They did serve appetizers as well as main dishes. Since we had other plans for dinner, we just wanted to split something small. However, as we start ordering we are informed that most of the appetizers don't qualify as food and that only the wings are sharable. We felt like this was a money grab as again we had been to other breweries and been able to order pretzels or chips and dip and have it qualify as a food item. Since we were already drinking our beers, we went with the wings. They were fine. Nothing amazing, but fine. My beer was okay. We paid our bill and left shortly thereafter. I will say our waitress was great and very attentive and I do not blame her for the rules around the food. Again, we went to other breweries on the cape and there were no restrictions on the food that we needed to order to fulfil the governor's order so this was definitely a money grab. I get it, places are struggling because of the pandemic and trying to make as much as they can. But based on the weird menu situation and this food issue, we would not be back.

Tried to visit Monday night after calling to make sure they were open. Voice mail confirmed hours as posted on website, 12-9. We drive 30 minutes to find they are closed for private event. Waitress says they will be open on Tuesday. Really wanted to give this place a try so we went back Tuesday afternoon only to find the place empty with a band rehearsing for another private event. I won’t waste my time again. There are other places to get a beer.

We visited Hog Island Beer Co on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. It helped that we had been to an inferior competitor the night before in Hyannis. First, the beer was great! We ended up both ordering the Garden Salad. My wife went for the goat cheese, and I swapped it for parmesan. The berry vinaigrette matched the Blueberry beer PERFECTLY. The garden seating was pleasant, our server was wonderful, and the music was remarkably good. It was a gentle Reggae mix. We were even inspired to get up and dance a few times. Our only complaint was that our server mistook a commendation of the matching of the salad and beer for a beer refill order. We had to subsequently ask her to adjust the bill, but our 4.5/5 review rounds up to a 5. The prices were comparable to what we found elsewhere, but the real silverware, friendly service, quality food and non-plastic dishes were all appreciated. The next time we visit, we hope that they are once again allowed to serve flights of beer samplers.
