About Cape Cod Canal Cruises
The historic Cape Cod Canal’s only sightseeing cruise! We operate two and three hour sightseeing cruises, featuring live narration about the fascinating history and points of interest along the Canal. Points of interest include Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Sagamore Bridge, Bourne Bridge, Vertical Lift Railroad Bridge, Gray Gables, Herring Run, Aptucxet Trading Post, Scusset Beach Fish Pier, Sandwich Boat Basin and Cape Cod Bay. This man-made canal, a National Historic Civil Engineering landmark, is the widest sea level canal (without locks) in the world. It was built to create more efficient nautical trade routes, opening in July 1914. Passage through the Canal is safer than having to maneuver around the dangerous shoals and unpredictable currents surrounding the Outer Cape, and also saves ships more than 160 miles of travel, instead of having to navigate around the tip of Cape Cod.

Enjoy the water! Want to enjoy a break from 90+F heat wave? Want an enjoyable 3 hour cruise without buying/renting a boat? Well this fits your need. 1st half narrated cruise thru the canal from Onset(Wareham) to Sandwich for less than $25? Get there for the 10AM boat and there usually is $2/hour parking at the dock. Water and non alcoholic beverages are allowed. The Viking Cruise line offers this pleasant trip up and back thru the canal. The ship has an open top deck with overhang for about half the seats and enclosed lower deck with windows that can be opened. And if you time your trip just right you may see the Cape Flyer (Boston to Hyannis) weekend train that runs along the Bourne side of the canal and the canal railroad bridge lowered to accomodate it. Looking for a fun day on the water this can't be beat.

Fun and enjoyable cruise for the family. Guide pointed out highlights of the sights. They said they are getting a newer boat which will be an even better experience for guests next season. Friendly crew that was flexible and kind. Affordable pay-by-plate parking lot located right near dock.

We went August 14, 2021 on the 10 a.m. boat. There is ample parking in the area. The Ride crew was helpful & friendly. They let everyone with medical problems in first. That was nice to see. There are no benches to sit on while you wait for your trip time. The Ride did not go to the complete end of the canal. I do not know why. I was hoping they did. I would say that they turned around about 1000 ft before the canal's end. The Ride is fun, interesting & somewhat informative as well.

Not only did Bob make the cruise very educational but his personality and kindness made this experience exceptional. He was very kind and helpful with a member of our group who is someone disabled. We highly recommend this cruise for everyone especially if Bob is working. Our mistake in double booking was picked up by Gina’s attention to detail. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to go again!

Totally drunk group of six sat behind us and kept crowding us in front, no social distancing and even stepped on my toe! Asked them to not stand in front of us, blocking our view in space less than one foot in front of us (we were at very point of boat). They got into argument, called me disparaging names! I went to get boat help who asked me what he was supposed to do!!!! Terrible!!!! Would not recommend sunset cruise at all. Morons shouldn’t be allowed to get in drunk and ruin it for others!!!
