As a new resident to Martha's Vineyard, I was looking for a place to rent a kayak and some locals recommended Island Spirit Kayak. Now I see why! I called to make my reservation and spoke to the owner Chick. I booked for Sat Nov 7th as the weather was perfect and something you should consider in the off-season if you can. For $35 I was able to rent a kayak for as long as I wanted and the best part of the experience was that she offered to drop the kayak off at several locations on the island. I went to Oak Bluffs and on the day of, she dropped me the location pin right on my phone! When I arrived, the kayak was all ready to go and included a life vest and dry bag. I couldn't have asked for a more seamless experience. Island Spirit is now my go to! You won't be disappointed!

This was a great tour and company to work with. Liam, our tour guide, not only was an enthusiastic and prepared professional but, he gave us a dinner suggestion and even what to order and he hit it out of the park. Easy on line booking, even accommodated us starting a bit early.

Lifeguards were great, very friendly, very informative. It was my first time paddle boarding and my kids second time. It was a very windy day with a strong current. My kids got swept across the pond and I was going to ask the guards for help but before I could they were already heading out to help my kids. I wish I remember their name but I don't. The lifeguard helped them get all the way back and talked to them the whole time, which I was thankful for. Another time I'd like to try maybe a sunset tour, and definitely don't it on a calmer day!!

We took two trips with Island Spirit on our trip last week to Martha's Vineyard: the sunset tour and a 2-hour guided trip during the day. The sunset tour on Lake Tashmoo in Vineyard Haven was AMAZING. The guides were very friendly and enthusiastic - they explained what we'd be doing before we set off and provided quite a bit of information about where we were paddling and what we were seeing. We paddled to a beach in time for sunset, and they put out a picnic snack and champagne (for adults!). After the sun set, they handed out sparklers which naturally were a big hit with the kids. On our way back, phosphorescent organisms in the water were lighting up and our guides showed us how to find them - beautiful. The daytime trip was just so-so. The guide was super friendly but there was no information provided upfront, really, we just hopped in the kayaks. There was a strong wind that we had to fight to get across the pond we were on - completely beyond the control of the guide, obviously, but it would have been helpful if setting out he said "we've got to paddle into a strong wind to get across the pond, we'll head toward that point over there, here are some techniques to keep in mind, let's go." He again was very friendly and answered any questions anyone asked, but a little more proactive info would have been enjoyable. All that said, we would have had no idea where to go or what to do if we had just rented the kayaks so I'm glad we did the tour. One small suggestion for Island Spirit is that they could make the meeting places a bit more obvious on their website or in the confirmation email.

We rented a paddle board and 2 person kayak for 6 days with delivery to a rental property on the island. They delivered and picked up on time and simply. Equipment came with necessary life jackets. Equipment was in excellent condition. Would definitely rent from them again.
