We only did this excursion once while we spent the week in Oak Bluffs but the kids always enjoy a couple go-arounds to catch the rings.

As a 60+ "kid", I love to ride a carousel wherever I get the opportunity. This one was fun because of its long history. The horses are beautifully restored and have real horse hair for the manes and tails. The horses don't go up and down, but you do get to grab the brass rings.

We have been coming to Flying Horses for years. It is an antique carousel that is located in Oak Bluffs. There is always a long line but it moves relatively quickly. This carousel does the whole brass ring thing. It is pretty entertaining to watch kids, teenagers and adults lose their flipping minds trying to get the rings.

if you're on the Island, you HAVE to stop at the Flying Horses, America's oldest carousel.. No matter the age, everyone can ride. My little guys love catching the rings. They have 2 arm, an inner for little people and the outer for taller ones. there are chariots so you can just sit and enjoy the ride. There is an... More

When we arrived we heard the music and decided to drop in. Funny how such a simple pleasure is so well received by all who are part of the crowd.

This is a must stop if you have young children even though the horses do not move up and down. The carousel is precious and priceless for the joy it brings to children. The fun continues for the adults as well- if you are a grandparent - you can try to collect the brass ring for an extra ride!

It's $3 to ride the carousel, but it's fun. You try to capture the brass rings. If you get the gold ring, you get a free ride. You must go on the carousel if you go to Oak Buffs.

This is the oldest carousel in the US, so you just have to visit! My kids loved riding. And if you catch the golden ring you can ride again for free.

Great way to enter Martha's Vineyard in Oak Bluffs as we got off the ferry. My kids, my wife, and I enjoyed riding the oldest carousel in the country. At $3 per person, this an must do experience in Martha's Vineyard.

Historic and iconic. The oldest active carousel. A must for kids of all ages. The ride has 2 silver ring dispensers on inside for little kids and external for bigger kids that you grab and collect. Every ride has 1 gold ring and for that one lucky person who collects it gets a free ride.
