Its the worlds longest ropeway and while I was on business trip to Armenia took time out to ensure I visited this world famous place.

It was freezing and temperatures around zero but once we reached TATEV from yerevan, the capital city in about 4 hours , the 12 minute journey was mind boggling. The lady at the door help was very polite in explaining minute details.
We travelled through scary heights but the ropeway mechanism was worldclass with seats and enough space to take panaromic and memorable photos.
Once you reach the other end, you can visit the historic and famous old monastery for which they allow you 30 minutes which is comfortable time to return back to the ropeway for your return to the starting point.

If in Armenia, please dont miss TATEV and it will remain one of your life time fond memories.

We visited this place during August. The climate was typical summer weather. This place is located about 250 kilometers from Yerevan city. The drive is really beautiful passing through the beautiful mountains neighboring Turkey and Azerbaijan. The scenic beauty from the cable car is breathtaking which passes through the two mountain ranges and some old settlements . The total length of the cable carb is about 5.8 KM which recorded as the longest cable car I the world by Guinness Book of World Records. This facility is with visiting and value for the money.

My advice for my fellow passengers that if you are staying in Yerevan it’s better to leave early like 6.00 A.M. so that on the way back you can visit jurmuk waterfalls and city. You can come back approximately by 10. PM. Please ask your driver to block the time of using the cable car over telephone. You need attest two hours to spend to visit the cathedral located at the other side where cable car ends.

We have young kids so didn't visit Tatev on a day trip and how glad we were of that! It is a long drive ( approx 4 hours from Yerevan) with so much else to see on the way so we made it into a 3 day trip - Yerevan, Areni, Jermuk (overnight), Karahunj, Khndzoresk and then stayed close to Tatev, and visited Tatev on the last day and drive back... Even that was rushed, would have liked to stay in Goris too if planned better
Tatev Wings are a must, very well run and safe! The views are amazing and the Tatev monastery at the end the best reward.
Few tips:
- Wings of Tatev gets super busy so always pre-book. You can purchase tickets online but note that if you have kids you have to definitely call them so they save a spot for them. This isn't communicated well on the website so when we got there there was no room for our two kids and there were another 3 families with same issues
- don't be late... Don't assume you can get on the next one, it's probably booked out
- clean toilets and a nice cafe/ restaurant on site if you get there early
- Allow plenty of time to explore Tatev monastery once you get there.... It's beautiful!

As per other reviews, this cable car journey to Tatev Monastery holds an international record.

The views from the cable car are spectacular.

Additionally, the service is punctual and efficient.

Being at the head of the queue going up to the monastery is an advantage as you can secure a position on the left hand side of the car, or be at the front. This places you to get the best views. Usually, each journey is crowded.

A pre-bought ticket is the best advice, and it also provides you with an exit time up to the Monastery.

The overall trip takes about 15 minutes, maximum.

Firstly of course the views are impressive, but there are lots of those in Armenia that you can just see from the road.
The tickets for this are not cheap at all, I think €15 ish and they cram you in tighter than a london tube at rush hour. If you end up in the middle and are not over 6ft you will not see anything and it will not be s comfortable ride.
Apparently before it would fit 25 people with benches so everyone could see, now they have taken those away and are cramming in 30 standing in every inch.
You also do not get a great view of the monastery, not the one you see online anyway.
Massive a let down.

You will definitely need a good 4WD vehicle to get to Wings of Tatev in winter as there is a treacherous stretch of snow coated mountain road that has entrapped many vehicles along the road side. But if you can reach Wings of Tatev, the views from this longest rope way ride in the world will be worth your while. Be sure to visit Tatev Monastery when you reach the other end. A return ticket is 3500 dram in winter and 5000 dram in other seasons.

This is one of the greatest attractions in Armenia, a real must for your tour.
You travel by a large cabin that takes you over 2 valleys.
The view is breathtaking.
What you see is explained in Armenian, Russian and English. Worth every cent.

Wow, wow, wow - the longest aerial tramway in the world and well worth the long journey from Yerevan for the experience. The 3.5 mile cable way between Halidzor and the Tatev monastery is situated in the countries southern mountains close to the border with Iran. At its highest point over the most beautiful gorge, the car travels 1,050 ft above ground level and allows year-round access to Armenia's 9th-century Tatev monastery complex, one of the country's most important religious centres and a major tourist attraction. It is best to book in advance; there are two cars that run at 15 minute intervals and if your lucky and its not too busy get in the car first for the most amazing views. The whole area is very modern and clean; there is a nice cafe selling tea & coffee etc and a small shop with local artefacts. I travelled there with an organised tour and the ticket was included, but I understand the price is about 20 euros. Worth every penny in my opinion.

An absolute must if you are going to see the Tatev Monastery. The views are awe inspiring. There is a commentary that provides information about points of interest, which is in Armenian, Russian and English. Be sure to check the weather before you go as fog could obscure your view. When my girlfriend and I arrived it looked as if we would be travelling as if through a cloud. Luckily for us, we rode just under the fog and were treated to an incredible view.
