Nice Walk
Sep 2019
Nice walk. There is a very small lot (holds about 8 cars). Take the stairs and walk up and over the bridge; once you cross over there is a small path to the left that will take you down to the falls.

A great hike
Aug 2019
Especially during foliage season, but pretty much any time. Plenty of parking off of Central Ave and a smaller lot on Ellis. Enjoy the waterfalls, walk across the impressive Aquaduct, marvel at the reverb underneath at Echo Bridge.

Great for photography
Oct 2018 • Friends
I lead my photography field trips to this location every year. WE like the fall best because of the colors. It is a beautiful walk but parts of it are quite steep so keep that in mind. And the leaves, when wet are slippery on the trail. But for a photography experience it is really inspiring. There are two waterfalls, beautiful reflections, echo bridge, and wonderful rock ledges that line the edges of the scene. My Curious Soul Photo School group loves this location. One thing to know, the parking lot is very small, so go early. And there are no restrooms.

Short walk, great views
Aug 2018 • Friends
Friends came to visit from Utah who love to hike. They we're dropping their son off for freshman year of college. So with just a few hours to grab dinner before they had to be at the school for family events, we went to take the less than a mile walk. Really pretty views with a waterfall, bridge and spillway along the Charles River.

Great family walk!
Jun 2018 • Family
We loved this family outing- easy trails with some beautiful views of the dams at Hemlock Gorge. Our kids (15, 12 & 6) enjoyed exploring Echo Bridge and the surrounding areas- a great place to wander for an hour or so!

Half a day minimum and fall is best!
Oct 2016 • Couples
Start down by the pool on Route 9 and work your way up to Echo Bridge; cross the river into Needham and have a wonderful day looking down on the old Mill Falls Restaurant. Hemlock Gorge is a great way to spend the day walking with kids and animals.

Always a pretty walk

been going to Hemlock Gorge and Echo Bridge since I was a kid. A great habitat just a few yards from I-95 and Route 9, but get close to the waterfall and you can't hear the traffic

Hemlock Gorge Reservation is a jewel in west suburban Boston
Oct 2016 • Couples
We walk through Hemlock Gorge many times a week because we live close to the park and it is so beautiful. You can walk a nice loop trail over Echo Bridge and along the side of the Charles River, crossing back over a foot bridge and along the other side of the river to where you began.

In fact, Hemlock Gorge was one of the first of five parks acquired by the former Metropolitan Park Commission in 1893 and was praised by landscape architect Charles Eliot: “At the Upper Falls of Charles River the stream flows darkly between rocky and broken banks, from which hang ranks upon ranks of graceful Hemlocks.”

This State park, managed by the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), is minutes from the i95 / Rt. 9 intersection, with free parking on Ellis Street in Newton Upper Falls and Reservoir Street or Hamilton Place in Needham.
