This was a slower boat that the "jets" out of Boston, but didn't have quite so far to go, and there was no issue of being blown around on the deck by the wind. And there were lots of whales (around Sept. 1). Humpbacks, a...More

We had a great time with the crew of the Newburyport Wale Watch. We saw several whale varieties which made the trip very exciting. We had beautiful weather so this would have been a great boat trip even if we hadn't seen any whales.

My fiance and I recently went on a whale sighting cruise, and it was amazing. We saw so many different types of marine life! It was an experience I'll never forget. Amy, our naturalist, was very knowledgeable.

A nice 4 hour cruise that took about one hour to really get out into the ocean. Great sightings of dolphins, porpoises and humpbacks. Several humpbacks were putting on a show with their fins splashing, almost like synchronized fin-slashing! Also breaching close to the boat,...More

Our sea trip lasted 4 hours. Whales that day were a little shy but the crew gave the maximum. We made nice filming, very hard to take a photo shot. Beware of sunburn and don't forget to go around in Newburyport, very nice town to...More

This was a very educational adventure. We had our 7 year old grand-daughter who truly enjoyed the experience. We ended up watching 4 separate whales. The naturalist on board was very informative about the whales and the Captain of the boat ensured that all aboard...More

I think it’s between five and ten miles out, and then back. Takes a little over an hour each way.

No matter the season you should come prepared with many layers when you go on the water! Even in July it can get chilly out there. You can absolutely have a group of 5-10 people go together as long as the date/time has... More

Whale watching with Newburyport Whale Watch (3 Replies)
We are trying to plan activities for a last minute trip to New Hampshire and Maine. We will be staying in Dover, NH. I really want to go whale watching and was interested in the sunset trip that Newburyport Whale Watch offers but I have only seen one review and it was negative. Does anyone have any experience with this company or advice about other similar outings in the area?? Thanks so much!!

Welcome to Trip Advisor in general and the Maine Forum in particular. You might find folks more familiar with the Newburyport Whale Watch on the Massachusetts forum -- not necessarily those who live in Newburyport, but those who visit that area often and watch that forum on a regular basis... To get to the MA Forum, click on the York Forums link just above Ask-a-Question, and when that page open, click on the "Maine" link, then the United States link (all in roughly the same place each time...More

whale watching in N.H and Mass. (2 Replies)
What is the best whale watching company in New England. We are planning a trip to Boston and then driving up to Portsmouth New Hampshire along A-1, Rye Beach etc. Where is the best place to catch a whale watching tour? I was considering 7 seas in Gloucester Mass., or Dolphin Fleet in Provincetown Mass however these seem out of the way, it seems as though the Newburyport Whale Watch is the most conveniet stop on our itinerary? Any suggestions? Is it worth going out of our way? Newburyport goes...More
