I traveled from SW CT 2 1/4 hours to find this area of MA under covered with 3-5 inches of frozen snow. Winter walkers earned their money today. Without them I would never have been able to explore. Very serene and quite spot since I was the only one there. The falls were 95% frozen with very little water flowing. At the base of the falls the ice formations were other worldly.

I think this place and others in the general area are worth another look once spring arrives. I went because it's new and didn't expect to find it as frozen as it was. 5 stars.

Nice hike into see the falls and old mill site. The hike is easy enough for those out of shape. The falls are probably more impressive with the spring thaw then when we went.

Easy or medium hiking, easy to bring young ones too a small water falls and hiking area. Large cliffs surround you that make you feel like your in the middle of nowhere.

One of our "waterfall hunting" adventures with our daughter. This display is a wider falls that can be seen from a couple fo different angles - the side, in front, and above. Further hiking takes you along the river that feeds the waterfall - but we lost the trail fairly easilly. We hope to head back in better weather for a dip!

We went on to the overlook of the Quabbin from the center of New Salem that can be reached by going through the campus of a former school - a spectacular view.

On our way to Concord, MA, we stopped to check this Falls out. Not a bad hike, it had just rained, so
It was a bit slippery, but were pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the falls and rapid water way.

It requires a very short hike to get to the falls but they are gorgeous. You can also walk along the river and see some old home foundations. It is of of our favorite spots to poke around and was even a great location to take some Trash the Dress photos!

This was my first trip to Bears den falls. Absolutely love this place. Small parking area and then a short walk into the woods. There are a few trails you can take. I took the one that goes straight to the falls. The entrance is pretty cool. Its like an opening in a rock wall. Very secluded place, perfect for meditating if your into that. Im definitely returning when the leaves change colors and probably again in the winter time.

Decided to hike this area today and I'm so glad we did.
This is a beautiful area with lots of tall trees with a hiking trail covered in pine needles. This area is very has a lot of nice views with a beautiful stream with big rocks, old stonewalls and interesting shaped trees.
A great place to hike.
