- tdf49Milford, Massachusetts4 contributionsAnother Great Night in Helen's KitchenThis was my third class with Helen. Her classes have been incredibly helpful in adding more variety to my menus, developing my kitchen skills and broadening my horizons in so many culinary ways. Her classes are small and everyone get's to participate as well as enjoy Helen's attention to their questions. The time flies but in 3 hours the amount of cooking and teaching that goes on is amazing. She has a great combination of skills, knowledge, experience, energy and enthusiasm. Best of all the class culminates with the enjoyment of all of the recipes prepared sitting around a table with Helen where she entertains all kinds of questions. Her classes fill up quickly which is further testimony to the quality of the experience she provides.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten October 1, 2023
- Donna G6 contributionsAmazing experience! The class I attended was French Pastry, and what a wonderful experience! Helen is welcoming, funny, amazingly organized and, most importantly, incredibly knowledgeable! The entire time she was teaching and demonstrating, she was laser focused on the recipes and techniques all while somehow still making you feel like you were just a friend who dropped by to spend some time chatting and cooking something special. Her style is easy-going and patient and I came away with a ton of information and the confidence to tackle French Pastry comfortably on my own. She also served a wonderful lunch! On a scale of 1-10 I would give my experience a 20!!!Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten October 1, 2023
- Maps409262 contributionsGreat Cooking Class! My husband and I enjoyed 'Helen's Kitching Cooking School' and the class we attended! I picked up some great tips that I can apply to my own cooking and I'm looking forward to trying them! I hope to take another class in the future and I'm looking forward to it! I recommend taking a class with Helen!Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 21, 2023
- Passport297287206251 contributionCooking meat dishes with HelenThe session was on cooking with meats. We prepared dishes that used beef steak, lamb ribs (rack of lamb), and pork shoulder (boston butt). Also discussed local shopping and selecting cuts of meat as well as identifying quality within the cuts. This was excellent training. Helen has a passion for making meals that are flavorful and practical to have in the home environment. Of the eight participants I was one of two first timers with Helen (the other was the son of a repeat attendee). I can see the value of taking other courses with Helen as you learn how to apply methods of cooking to several types of meats, poultry or seafood. I see my experience as an opportunity to scale back on dining out and enjoy/impress when cooking from scratch at home. We ate what was prepared and had a wonderful Q&A session over the last 45 min or so on tips and techniques. The class did go over by 30 min but worth the time and it shows how much Helen puts into her students' learning.Visited December 2023Traveled soloWritten December 6, 2023
- Susanna M1 contributionTreat Yourself!I have previously attended several of Helen's classes. The classes are always informative, well prepared, and with opportunities for hands-on experiences. Helen provides feedback and helpful tips during the class. It is presented in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. I have learnt new techniques and obtained new recipes in every class. Sharing the dishes created during the class with other students is a highlight. Helen is an experienced instructor and I highly recommend her classes..Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 26, 2024

Helen did a great job of making it a very inclusive experience, always providing good instruction with a smile. I felt when I left that I'd be recounting my class experience many times. Highly recommend and have already signed up for a second class.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 21, 2024
- Jessica S1 contributionWorth every penny! We can't recommend Helen's Kitchen Cooking School enough!! We just finished our first cooking class with Helen on how to make different types of meat. She is so knowledgeable and does a great job educating and answering questions. This more than made up for our horrible experience at Sur La Table several months ago. Helen takes time to ask everyone at the beginning what our questions are going into the class and what we hope to learn, and at the end of the class does a whole Q&A session. She prints of recipes, shopping guides, and includes links to her YouTube videos on the recipes, she even included a bonus recipe for us just because she thinks it's delicious. Helen is worth every penny, can't recommend her enough. It was a great date night!Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 18, 2024

Thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with Helen. We learned a lot about fish selection, preparation and how to tell doneness. Helen was extremely knowledgeable and never made any of us feel like we were asking dumb questions.
During COVID times, I felt that she had made appropriate accommodations to make us feel safe.
I am looking forward to taking another class soon!

The online class exceeded my expectations. It was like inviting Helen Rennie into my home. The Zoom format addressed the questions of all course participants. Helen is personable but more importantly, she provides information and encouragement that empowers you to become a better cook. I learned so much during the course. Thank you, Helen, and see you soon! Class: Orgasmic Vegetables

Helen has genuine mastery and passion, and this comes across forcefully in her classes. I learned a lot. I think she is really teaching technique, more so than how to make a certain recipe, and this is so much better. I cook quite a lot and have taken two classes (fish and pizza). My favorite was fish because I believe I have already improved my fish cookery by applying a few of the techniques that Helen gave us.
So why not five stars? My only thought here is that maybe the experience might be even better if Helen chose not to pack quite so much into the three hours, and created a little more opportunity for back and forth, although as an educator myself (coffee) I know that can be risky in terms of losing focus and control.

I learned so much from Helen’s online pasta class I immediately signed up for her pie class. I learned more in her online class than in other chef’s face to face class. Well worth the money and you will be able to duplicate the recipes right every time. I have never been successful making pasta in the past and now I plan to make it weekly.

We returned for our 3rd class. This alone justifies the 5 star review! Helen is personable, warm, and knowledgeable. During the three hour class she demonstrates, explains, and teaches. The group participates and of course also tastes the food. She provides a wealth of tips to make a recipe or technique user friendly. After each cooking class we left inspired to use the recipes at home.

I recently took my first class (and certainly not my last) with Helen. The class was Sous Vide and I loved the class. Helen herself was charming, engaging, made everybody feel welcome and most of all she is an incredible Chef. I learned so many new techniques from Helen that I am now using at home, to the delight of my family.
The class was fun, informative and the 3 hours flew by. She sent home materials and followed up with an email that gave links to anything we discussed in class.
Did I mention you also get to taste all of the food?

Helen is wonderful! We learned a lot and had fun. We took the knife skills class which was a great fit for both my husband and I. He is just getting started as a home cook, I do a lot of home cooking but we both got a lot out of it. Fabulous atmosphere with skills you can actually take home, and a delicious meal to boot!

Do they have teenage cooking classes, for healthy eating etc.
Written March 3, 2018
Teenagers are welcome in all my regular classes. In the summer, I teach a teenage cooking camp for a week starting on July 23, 2018. TripAdvisor doesn't let me give a link to the camp, but it's listed on top of my classes page.
None of my classes offer "kid food." It's normal food you would get in a farm-to-table restaurant. The teenage camp is no different. We cook a ton of vegetables, fish, meat, etc. But I don't teach diet food. If I make a dessert, it's the real deal :)
