I love taking people fishing. I trailer my boat, so I am able to fish closest to where the fish are biting best. Black Rose Fishing specializes in small private charters (1-4 people) as well as open boats (mixed groups). The boat is fast, getting you to the fishing grounds quickly, with the added benefit of a full cabin. The fishing space on this boat is immense--a dance floor's worth of space in the cockpit to fish as well as full bow to fish from. We fish from many ports, with our most common ones being Green Harbor(Marshfield), Plymouth, Mattapoisett, and South Yarmouth. We also fish from Orleans, Dennis, Sandwich, Scituate, Buzzards Bay, and Falmouth. Haddock, cod, porgy(scup), black sea bass, tuna, stripers/blues, sharks, and many other species are targeted. For people on vacation, we can do back-to-back trips and target several species. Visit the website for more info and links to many videos. My son and I have fished with Capt Rich for over 15 summers . His knowledge of local fishing hotspots is legendary . We never fail to get a freezer full of fillets to tide us over the winter . Furthermore & more importantly ,Rich has been exceptionally patient when working with my son who has development disabilities .He will encourage him , help him bait his line and also remove fish off the hook , all the while explaining the process . We can’t wait for the next fishing season. .....

After not having traveled for the better part of a year due to COVID, and having missed my offshore winter seabass/porgy trips out of NJ, I found Captain Rich and Black Rose Fishing. To make a great, long story short, it was a fantastic experience. I fished for two days (each trip a solid 1/2 day) for scup (aka porgy) and seabass. It was basically drop and reel fishing the entire time. I had a hankerin' for grilled porgy, and I have enough fish to last for many months.
Captain Rich is a gentleman, and a great Captain. A lot of laughs. If you are a fellow of a certain age, brush up on your 1970-80s movie knowledge before you go.
Also, I think it would be an excellent fishing trip for kids who like to fish. Fishing close to the dock (beautiful facility at Mattapoisett, MA), nonstop action, hard fighting fish, shallow water (<35 ft), medium-light saltwater tackle, and a relaxing atmosphere. Also, with a 1/2 day trip there is plenty of time to take in the scenery and explore. Besides, when your cooler is full of nice porgies, it's time to head in. :)
I stayed at a decent hotel in North Dartmouth, MA with a suite and kitchenette (freezer), and it worked out perfectly. 13 minutes from my room to the boat.
I brought all my own gear with me, but it all stayed in the truck. Capt. had everything I needed, and then some. Saved me from having to wash everything down, etc. The little things- if you want a convenient, fun, yet serious fishing experience, this is it.
I had no idea what to expect when I set off on this adventure... and I am so glad I did. I will definitely be back soon. Thanks again, Captain Rich.

Great captain and even better person. Lots of laughs and you know your going to catch fish! I highly recommend. The Black Rose. The black rose runs open trips as well as charters don't be afraid to come by yourself i did!

Awesome trip! Couldn't ask for a better captain. Safe and fun with top of the line equipment. The Black Rose is a fast and comfortable boat so you won't spend all day getting there.

Great Captain, whether you are a seasoned pro, novice and/or bringing kids aboard. Rich puts you on fish no matter what species you ask him to target. Every hookup seems like his first one. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious. The only chart boat I use on the Cape.

I have been fishing with Captain Rich for years and you will not find a better experience. Rich has an infectious enthusiasm for all things fishing. Whether you're a first timer, a nature lover, a father looking for an awesome day with the family, or a hardcore salty looking to target trophy species, you will not find a better person or boat to do it on. Do yourself a favor and take a trip, life is short, and I guarantee you will relish in the time spent with Captain Rich & the Black Rose.

Awesome day out on the boat with Rich and the guys. Set out trying to catch Blue Fin Tuna, ended up with a 500 POUND Thresher Shark. Learned a lot about the SPORT of fishing. The Cap. was very hands on and we learned a lot during an unforgettable experience. Seemed like something out of a movie. Highly recommend.

If you love fishing and get excited about catching fish This is the Boat for you. I have fished all over the country and CaptRoch @ Black rose charteres is my go to guy! We recently fished for haddock one day and then sea bass the next . The results were amazing! Not only did we limit out both days but we were very selective about the fish we kept too . capt Rich is very knowledgeable and comes prepared to meet whatever situation may arise . His enthusiasm is infectious and is one of the hardest working captains I've ever fished with. I highly recommend this charter. Also he has accommodations available so you can stay overnight if you book multi Day trips I found them to be very clean comfortable and accommodating .

When you love what you do then you never work a day in your life..That's Capt Rich. Pure fishing passion and undeniable experience. You won't regret chartering with the Capt. He puts you on the fish,makes sure you have a good time and delivers you back home safely. Awesome experience!!!!

Hi. I am sorry that I just saw this question. (I didn't know you get questions on TripAdvisor; I won't miss that again.)
On my boat, it depends on what we fish for and how long of a trip. Typically, our trips are offshore, all day...For those trips...four types: Striped bass, $1,000. Groundfish (haddock, pollock, cod, etc.) $1,100. Tuna, $1,200. Sharks, $1,250. Inshore, scup/sea bass; $550. 6 hour striper, $750... 4 hour inshore striper, $550.
I hope that this is helpful; on my website I have much more info and I often post "shared" charters on my Facebook Page (instead of getting whole boat, you fish with other people)
