Had an amazing time and loved the city. Never been and can’t wait to go back. Was very cold so be sure of the season you decide to go, wonderful restaurants people were warm and inviting. Stayed with family so didn’t have the opportunity to stay at a hotel or bed and breakfast but lots of them around. Very New England and lots of history.

As a photographer and history teacher, I seek out those things that would lend itself to either speciality. Fort Sewall is it.

First, parking can be a trick - park on the side of the very narrow road, and walk up, or be fortunate enough to grab a spot in the small parking lot. You CANNOT drive all the way up to the Fort.

Nice views. great place for kids to run free for a bit on the grassy area.

Read up on the Fort before you arrive.

Walk along the harbor in Marblehead and you will come to Fort Sewall. It's been built and rebuilt many times since it was first constructed in the 1600's. Many park benches and a few historical plaques. The bathrooms were is such bad shape my wife went in and came right back out. They need attention.

A little piece of heaven; that's what this place is like; every time we go to Marblehead, we have to visit if just to get in a bit of peace, quiet and a view that never disappoints. There are sidewalks for walking, grass for the dogs, bathrooms if necessary but the main attraction is THE VIEW!!!

This is an old earthworks fort that has a great view of the harbor and surrounding shoreline. It seems like a terrific place to have a picnic. We saw the whole place in about 15 minutes. There are no facilities here so it is really just a great spot to catch the views.

As I’m writing I’m currently sitting in fort sewall and I’m loving the weather( sunny but not too hot) with a nice breeze and breathtaking views! It’s is a quiet, relaxing place good for walks or to sit around and just enjoy a book and a view. ❤️😎😍

So piece full to sit my the water edge. See all the beautiful boats in the harbor. The lighthouse across the way. Watch sailboat races, and small islands just beyond. Warm and friendly people will be more than happy to talk about their town. Especially if their families are 3rd,4th, 5th generations.

Stoped of while visiting salem, there is free parking enough for around 20 cars. You can work around the perimeter takes make 5-10 mins. Nice place to sit and relax and take it all in. There is also free toilets there if needed.

Took a stroll through Fort Sewall during our trip to Marblehead. It's located right off a cute residential area. The excellent views of the harbor can be enjoyed sitting down on one of the many benches that dot the perimeter of the park. During the summer, the park would provide a great setting for an engagement and/or wedding photos!
