Walk along the harbor in Marblehead and you will come to Fort Sewall. It's been built and rebuilt many times since it was first constructed in the 1600's. Many park benches and a few historical plaques. The bathrooms were is such bad shape my wife went in and came right back out. They need attention.

A little piece of heaven; that's what this place is like; every time we go to Marblehead, we have to visit if just to get in a bit of peace, quiet and a view that never disappoints. There are sidewalks for walking, grass for the dogs, bathrooms if necessary but the main attraction is THE VIEW!!!

This is an old earthworks fort that has a great view of the harbor and surrounding shoreline. It seems like a terrific place to have a picnic. We saw the whole place in about 15 minutes. There are no facilities here so it is really just a great spot to catch the views.

As I’m writing I’m currently sitting in fort sewall and I’m loving the weather( sunny but not too hot) with a nice breeze and breathtaking views! It’s is a quiet, relaxing place good for walks or to sit around and just enjoy a book and a view. ❤️😎😍

So piece full to sit my the water edge. See all the beautiful boats in the harbor. The lighthouse across the way. Watch sailboat races, and small islands just beyond. Warm and friendly people will be more than happy to talk about their town. Especially if their families are 3rd,4th, 5th generations.

Stoped of while visiting salem, there is free parking enough for around 20 cars. You can work around the perimeter takes make 5-10 mins. Nice place to sit and relax and take it all in. There is also free toilets there if needed.

Took a stroll through Fort Sewall during our trip to Marblehead. It's located right off a cute residential area. The excellent views of the harbor can be enjoyed sitting down on one of the many benches that dot the perimeter of the park. During the summer, the park would provide a great setting for an engagement and/or wedding photos!

Ft. Sewall dates back to the early 1700s, when it was built by the British. It has the remains of an earthen fort, one of the first in the Colonies.

A walkway around the fort provides a beautiful view of the harbor and the lighthouse on the other side.

One creature comfort is a public restroom, as you enter the park area. There is a small public parking lot near the entrance lane. But, if it's full parking can be found on nearby streets.

The fort is easily accessed by foot and has comfortable benches. The wind blows constantly off the water. So, it's a nice place to visit on a warm, sunny day.

The surrounding streets are wonderful for walking. Many have historic houses built before the American Revolution, which are still lived in today. There are also a couple nice restaurants along the shoreline.

I suggest making a visit to Fort Sewall a part of at least one day of your vacation in Marblehead.

Sit on a park bench and watch the boats in the harbor. Read the plaques to learn of American History.
