I have been visiting this store for 40ish years. Stepping through the door and hearing the unique door chime sound is like stepping back in time.
All of my favorites are still there. Fudge counter loaded with greatness, candy counter corner! There is a great smelling coffee area, cooler full of local fun flavored sodas and tons of mixes and gourmet type food items and that is before leaving the front room.
This building has so many rooms large and small to explore. Bring your quarters and listen to both player pianos.
There is a small room dedicated to baby gifts, a side room filled with outdoor decor, furniture, beautiful decorations, rugs, bath products and more.
I love being in the store or sitting out front when the train rumbles by.
The store has evolved over the years but the heart of it is the same.
I no longer live super close but make it a point to go there so my kids and granddaughter also get to appreciate this unique store.
I saw recently that the property was for sale. I asked on my visit a few weeks ago and was told yes indeed the building is for sale but the business itself would just move to a smaller location if it worked out with a Dale and finding another equally special property, but that it could be a long time before that happened so business as usual until that time comes.

My family and I have visited the Old Country Store many times over the years. It has a wonderful candy section in front with a large section of penny candy, a fudge and chocolate counter, and fresh coffee beans. Everyone's favorite, though, is the barrel of garlic pickles by the register.
The rear of the store (which extends forever!) has many things to explore- cast iron, kitchen gadgets, cards, candles, fireplace goodies, a large selection of gorgeous furniture, toys, and on and on.
Check it out! It's a great place to spend an hour when you are bored.
I would have given five stars but the ladies behind the counter are pretty grumpy sometimes. Otherwise a great place.

Have been to the Old country Store several times...with and without my child. Yes, the staff is a little protective of the store....understandably so! Very tight areas with merchandise...not only a potential for things to be broken but in all honesty something could fall onto a child...not a "child safe area" in any way! Have bought/done business with them several times without any issue...hopefully all that had an adverse feeling will be a little more open minded and take this valid reason into some consideration.

I don't think I have ever seen rudeness like at the Old Country Store. One would think its a warm, friendly place, but it is anything but. The staff was rude. The place needs to be run with people who have experience with the industry....it's called hospitality! As the owner of my own store, my recommendation is not to go to the Old Country Store until they are bought out by someone who understands the concept of dealing with the general public.

The worst customer service ever!!! And from the owner CHRIS. Stay away they could give a crap about your business. Cocky cocky cocky.. We custom ordered a 200 dollar item that came back incorrect because their stupid order taker submitted it in correctly. The owner told us it was our fault "we should have watched him writing up or order".. I told him I didn't want to charge it back and was trying to simply get what i ordered and he replied " ya gotta do what ya gotta do lady"! I was shocked!! To many good businesses out there that will bend over backwards for their clients. This is NOT one of them go elsewhere!!!

Expensive junk and fridge magnets. Also, wanted to be generous with our son and bought him a chocolate. It was so stale he couldn'tget his teeth through it. The refused us a refund for a $2 chocolate. Booooooooooooo!

Went with a bus load of Senior Citizens from a local church today , it was after lunch and a few seniors needed to use the rest rooms, they were told " we have no public rest rooms " it was disappointing that no accomodations for these seniors was made , NOT Impressed by the store staff , Thankfully a firestation was located just down the road which allowed use of a rest room.

I have been going to the Country Store for many years but since it changed hands a while ago the products get more and more tacky and cheap looking. They used to have lovely quality things but not anymore. I went there today and nothing caught my and I was out of there in about 10 minutes. I won't be going back anytime soon.

What a wonder place to have with a NOT so penny candy counter and a non charming environment that is not set up for Children but sell children toys. Children are immediately assessed as naughty and misbehaved as soon as they enter their doors. KIDS ARE FOLLOWED THROUGHOUT THE STORE AS THOUGH THEY ARE THIEVES - THEY ARE HARRESSING CHILDREN. My children left the store crying as a very rude woman told them they had to stay next to their parent when I told my children to get what they wanted. The Owner/Manager is a total snob and has NO Customer Service experience. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. There is a new shopping area before you get to this store which invites children into their stores with open arms. This is written on behalf of my children. Children are people too!!!

The owners of this country store are cold hearted. All they care about is the sale and don't you ask any questions about the product they get very put off about that, kinda makes you feel like you have to walk on egg shells if you bother them to much. Really not a comfortable cozy countryesh sorta feeling. Why did they buy the place? I like going to Carols Den country store in Plainville MA across from Fitzeys Pup, they even smile and talk with you there, very nice owners, just how it should be when you visit a country store.
