We went for a 7:30 trail run and had a fabulous time exploring both the wide and smooth dirt fire roads and the rockier, more narrow hiking trails. The views and scenery were wonderful. People were few and far between and friendly. We frequent the Middlesex Fells and this was different enough to delight us that we found another great trail system nearby.

This is my first time hear and visit this place since I moved to Boston 7 years ago. I would say this is as good as (if not better than) other hiking places around Boston area (such as Blue Hill and Middlesex Fells). If you are looking for a place to hike within an hour's drive around Boston, this is definitely worth the consideration (and it's less crowded). You can climb up to the stone tower for a panorama view of Boston skyline. Also you can step down into the ground in the Dungeon rock for some winter in July adventure(hopefully you bring a flashlight). This is a fairly large park. We only covered a small portion and it took us almost half a day (at a moderate pace). Grab a map at the entrance. Most of the trails we visited are marked and has signs along the trail. On some of the signs they also use a grid-type coordinate system to help you cross-reference with the trail map for orientation.
A side note: this place do not have bathroom at the entrance parking lot or on the trail. So plan ahead.

We did some hiking here and it is such a pleasant place to visit. The reservation is mainly in Lynn but a small part of it is in Saugus. We entered on the Saugus side for our hike. This parking area is very small and we were fortunate to arrive when someone was leaving. The park is filled with huge pine trees and is over 2000 acres in size. While hiking you pass a golf course. There are paved paths and dirt trails. We had a great time here.

Mention Lynn and people go “ crime, tripledeckers, the atrocious Lynnway” but Lynn Woods is a real urban jewel that Friends of LynnWoods keep clean, clear trails and protect from developers greedy hands . Walking the trails you would not know that busy route One is to the west and downtown Lynn and Saugus close by. There are over 30 miles of well marked trails and signs for hikeing and mountain biking with a lot of wildlife. Just a great place for a pleasant time to get away and enjoy nature.

Easy to find; large parking area, great walking trails; Too bad there aren't more waste barrels available. Picked up a grocery sack of trash myself; Many folks walking dogs there and NOT cleaning up after them!!!!

We have lived in the area for 10 years before we finally visited the park. Normally we'd walk Breakheart--not sure why we waited so long! Its equal to any hike up north or further from the city. Great trails, not very crowded, great to take in the nature. Hiking to the rock was fun!

We take our dog here every weekend- it's a hidden gem! I never realized how much land is at Lynn Woods but there are multiple trails for both walkers, hikers, bikers- even for campers I've heard.
We go to the baseball field parking lot- as opposed to pennybrook which is also a nice parking area. We do the 5 mile loop to the left up toward Stone Tower and hug the trails left and all the way around until you loop back to parking lot. Beautiful trails, monuments, brooks, and views.
Highly recommend. Gets quite busy during weekends in the afternoon, especially during nice weather- the summer. Favorite time to go is early morning in the Fall or Winter where it's quiet and beautiful

Lynn Woods is a sanctuary, It is a haven for walkers bikers, birders, runners, xc skiers, people on snow shoes, and dog walkers. It is big enough that even if the parking lot is full you can find solitude. There is a ranger, his office is on the Pennybrook side of the woods. The Woods buffer Lynn's water supply. Do a web search on Lynn Woods. From May to September there is a cross country running event every Wednesday around 6PM. Lynn Woods is a special place,

I'm astonished by how many people who live in the Lynn/Swampscott/Marblehead/Salem area have never been to this little piece of wilderness. Take your dog and go for a walk in the woods. You'll think you were in NH instead of just a few minutes from downtown Lynn.

Looking for a place my husband only partially remembers....a place called Blueberry Hill in a park somewhere north of Peabody...he remembers that it really had blueberries, and the park had horseback riding. Any information would be appreciated....thanks!

Blueberry Hill was off RT 128 in Danvers. I did not know about horse back riding but there were lots of blueberries. Most of that area has been built up and not much land left. Salem Woods and Lynn Woods do have some wild blueberries. Timing is everything though.
