A great place with varied terrain and easy trails. The entire place is well-maintained and the trails are easy to follow. The volunteer at the check-in was super helpful and knowledgeable.

A Good Hike up Lennox Mountain
Oct 2021 • Couples
Pleasant Valley may be a nice nature walk - indeed, it is a Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuary that includes beaver habitat - but this location should also be considered for a hiking experience.

We were looking for a nice hike with views. I wasn’t finding much until I searched for nature instead of hiking. With 1100 acres and 7 miles of trails, this seemed like a possibility.

There is, in fact, a good hike here, with two routes to the top of Lennox Mountain (Yokun Seat). Good clear view to the west, and the Overbrook trail has numerous water falls - just beautiful. At an elevation of 2113’, the assent is about 900’ and can make for a good sweat.

We were told it was an hour hike each way. It took us 1:30 up and 1:15 down. Of course, it was wet from recent rains and quite slippery - not to mention I was better at this 40 years ago or more.

I recommend Pleasant Valley for the nature walks and for a good hike.

It's a gift to get acquainted with one of many accessible areas to immerse in beaver activity, boardwalks, rustling leaves and babbling brooks.

This Audubon sanctuary is well laid out and varied. Staff was helpful and signage kept us on track. Not many birds in August.

Fun to check out

Great place to hike. A few trails were closed due to beavers and storms, but beautiful area. It's muddy so it's best to wear hiking boots. Fun experience on a beautiful day!

My daughter isn't fond of nature, but I dragged her out for a short nature walk. The staffer was really helpful at recommending a good short trail, and we enjoyed a peaceful hike through the woods.

Just beautiful

This is such a beautifully preserved , clean, diverse and gorgeous place for an easy hike. The sounds and sites of frogs, snakes, chipmunks and squirrels added to the afternoon. If I lived closer, I’d be here all of the time.

Must See
May 2021
Plenty to see at this fantastic sanctuary. Lots of walking; short and long paths, easy to strenuous. We walked the Beaver path. Saw lots of birds, flowering shrubs, and a beaver dam! Highly recommend.

Great for snowshoeing

We took our three kids (ages 8, 10, and 12) snowshoeing this morning and did a loop around the beaver pond. Beautiful and scenic views. Easy to moderate trails.

Delightful walk in the woods
Dec 2020
Pleasant Valley is a great place to hike or snowshoe. The chance of seeing Beavers is very good and there is plenty of challenging terrain. Yak-tracks or crampons are highly recommended since the trails can get pretty icy. We had an encounter with a Beaver who was not at all concerned with us - just gathering food for their lodge. It's an easy place to get to and well worth a visit.
