This park is great because it has a nice variety of trails. There are easy walkways as well as strenuous inclines. There are many paths to take so you can vary the level of hike as you wish. Along all the trails are great markings that signal blue as up the mountain and yellow as down. This was easy to... More

Lots of trails. Beautiful place with many different levels of hiking. Climb to top for a great view and great hike, not too difficult.

Lush landscape not far from the hustle and bustle of Lenox. Entertainment in the ponds and serene wooded walks. I had expected to spend the day in the sun and surprisingly and happily the paths around the ponds and several mid sanctuary trails were well shaded. The Laurel ? Hill trail and Ravine trail was a nice addition to the... More

Led by Butch, this was a super trip onto the reserve. We met at 730 in the evening and after a short introductory talk, Butch took us through the reserve, giving us lots of information about beavers, their lives, the reserve and all along beavers were appearing in the pools and on banks. We must have had 20 sightings over... More

My wife and I are seniors from Southern California so these "woodsy" trails are not something we're used to. I had never seen beavers in the wild, the closest to us are in northern California, if you know where to look. Here they are almost underfoot, beaver dams everywhere, felled trees all over the place, some of which were so... More

Pleasant Valley Sanctuary was having a tour of the beaver lodges, that was very interesting. Our tour guide was excellent and very informative. An extra plus was that we got to see three different beavers. Two were eating on the shore, that didn't care we were taking pictures and on their turf. Very ingenious animals. If you like seeing animals... More

This has been an excellent place to enjoy the out of doors since I was in grammar school (eons ago). Indoor displays and programs prepare you for an expedition around the grounds. Walking paths take you through wetland and forest settings. Other trails climb to the mountain tops. Exploring is as easy or difficult as you wish. The staff at... More

Pleasant Valley is a wonderful nature sanctuary run by the Mass Audubon Society. There is a charge for non-members but members are free. It has gentle walks through the woods and around some ponds or a hike up a big hill that's more strenuous. It is particularly beautiful in the Fall when the leaves are changing or in the Spring...
