When heading west on Rte.2, the Mohawk Trail, you must stop at this information center in Lancaster just east of I-190, to pick up a snack, get a souvenir, wash up, pick up tourist brochures, and get any question answered by the friendly people at the information desk. In October, apple picking season, I got a free apple!

On our annual trip to the Williamstown Theatre Festival, we always stop at the Johnny Appleseed Trail Visitors Center on Route 2. The restrooms are always clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a good supply of travel booklets and maps, plus interesting gifts and souvenirs of the area. It is a good place to buy snacks... More

Heading west on Route 2 for the Mohawk Trail, the Johnny Appleseed Trail Visitor Center was a great resource for travel info. It had a lot of travel booklets, pamphlets, and info/advertising cards for attractions and lodging. The staff was helpful and friendly. It also had a small gift shop with souvenirs and snacks. It was also a good rest... More

We stopped here to use the toilets and were pleasantly surprised at all they had to offer. Nice area to sit near the crab apple trees, walk your dog (if you have one), learn about the area, and of course use the composting toilets. Thanks for a nice break from the road!

We were surprised to find a little gift shop inside the travelers' center that had some very unusual items. They even had a penny-press which, of course, we used. The folks inside were nice and very helpful. There were some yummy-looking goodies inside, some made by local folks. I guess I was most surprised to find this in Central Massachusetts.... More

We went in for a break driving through the area and realized its NOT JUST A REST STOP inside is an amazing little gift shop with all kinds of local trinkets and cool little items. They also had a wall full of different attractions brochures which helped us find something to go and do for a little to get off... More

This quaint little hideout , hidden in disguise as a rest area off route 2 is full of charm. From the statuette of Johnny appleseed out front (yes I have a photo with it)...To the lil novelty coin souvenier machine inside the doors...The staff is pleasant helpful and always super friendly. If you are looking for Massachusetts souveniers or boston... More

If you are in Central Ma going any place, then you need to stop here. Its more than just a rest area, its a visitor center, its a country store, and it has more information about the arean than you shake a stick at. Woth the stop if you are on Rt 2 heading west.
